In this third installment of the continuing adventures of Lara Croft, the plot is quite impenetrable, involving Antarctic meteors, Polynesians, and Charles Darwin's voyage on the Beagle. To solve the mystery behind um… well, to solve whatever the mystery is, Lara's going to have to explore India, London, the South Pacific, Nevada, and finally, Antarctica, with your help of course. 'Tomb Raider III' is essentially the same as the last two Tomb Raider games. Lara runs, she climbs, she jumps, she even does some sort of odd monkey swing move in this game, but there's really nothing new here. Gameplay is the same as ever. Lara still turns ... Now don't get me wrong Tomb Raider 3 is an ok game if you consider it a game all on its own, but if you think of it as part of a et of five games then my opinions title begins to make sense. As i have mentioned in my reviews for other Tomb Raider games the series seems to be making a transformation from the all action, shoot everything that moves style, of the original Tomb Raider to a Syphon Filter style, sneak around and try not to hurt the poor defensless army guys unless you reall really have to type of game. In my opinion this is a mistake, i remember the days when you never had to worry about hiding you simply strolled out and blasted everything into a pulp. I ... Read the complete review

Eidos Interactive have done it again. Laramania hits playstation with another 2...3 bangs. Yes Tomb Raider 3 deserves just a little more attention than number 2. Lara, the curvaceous hero and so-called tomb raider now stars in her third edition with some improvements. The most significant additions to TR3 (TOMB RAIDER 3) are aesthetic. The lighting effects are more dramatic, while both Lara and the game's eight adventures benefit from higher resolution graphics with rippling water, leaves blowing across the floor, and Lara herself looking...well, rounder. The game opens with five linked stages, each which can be completed in different ways and which ... Read the complete review

Don't get me wrong, its still a fine game in its own right. Its just that it doesn't match up to the high standards set by its predecessors (and the excellent Last Revelation). You know the story by now, its good old Lara Croft running about solving puzzles and killing some rather cute monkeys (no animals were harmed in the making of this review). The biggest problem with this game is that the difficulty level is set so much higher than the others in the series. From the very start of the game, its easy to kill Lara with one move, not the most friendly of ways to introduce a game. The start of the second level begins in complete darkness too, ... I completely disagree with Groundzero when he says this is the weakest game in the series of Tomb Raider games. In fact, i think this is my personal favourite. The graphics are good, the games fairly challenging, and overall i think this is far better than previous games in the Tomb Raider series, and indeed, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. Although the puzzles are a little too easy for my liking, i think this is good if you're the type of person who likes completing games over and over again, never growing tired of it. It's also sometimes interesting trying to do it again using different methods such as trying not to die throughout the whole game, ... Read the complete review
