A cracking game, this one. Released way back in 1997, Total Annihilation is a real-time strategy game in the style of Command and Conquer in which you play as one of two futuristic, warring armies- the Arm or the Core. The Arm units are all man-operated, whilst the Core are a Skynet-style race of machines, and the two sides have been battling it out for supremacy over countless solar systems, stripping each planet of its resources before moving on to fight elsewhere. The game's graphics were stunning when it first came out and still remain rather nice-looking today. Both the units and terrain are in 3D, which is especially impressive given its age, and the ... Total Annihilation to date has been one of the most memorable games i've ever played, and still to date play. The AI for this game is STILL one of the most curious. It was simply one of the most challenging games ever back in it's day, and still the AI stands a damn good chance against so many of the newer ones. The units in TA were all something new and unique. Between the Core and Arms there's no 2 units that are the same. Understandably many of them serve a similar purpose *I mean a builder is a builder is a builder right?*, but even in that regards, they all look different. The special abilities of the many units available opens the doors of strategy more ... Read the complete review

Total Annihilation is a simple but fun strategy game. Its story entails the battle between the Arm and the Core about the transference of consciousness from man to machine. The Arm want men in machines, the Core want a no flesh machine. The graphics are wonderful, the explosions look really cool, even for small units like fast attack vehicles. There are miniature suns every time a unit is shot, so in a big battle there is a lot of light, in multiplayer this may cause lag. The add-on units I have are OK but there is definitely more room for improvement. The 3D terrain has not been used much in my battles, but I can only fight the computer because I don’t have net at ... Read the complete review

This game all although a few years old now is still more advanced in many respects to comparativly new strategy games such as Red Alert 2. Firstly TA (Total Anhilation) has true 3D with view and range of shots increased the higher up you do. RA 2(Red Alert 2) only has basic cliffs. (i.e. only two possible hights). Secondaly in TA units actually build the buildings (and hence are vnerable while in construction) as compared to simply placing the building when it is finished in RA2. the TA methos is superior as it means you can increase the speed of building easily by building more construction units and you can build anywhere on the map provided the construction ... Ooh, my second computer game opinion, and this time I do actually have this game. I got Total Annihilation with my computer a few years ago, and let me tell you, it is class, and if you could pour it, it would be class in a glass, but you can't, so it isn't. Let me give you the general gist of the game. In this quality game you can either control the Core, or the Arm forces, and your main objective is to, well, kill the opposing force. You have two main one player options, you can either skirmish, or you can do missions. In the skirmish you pick which force you want to be, pick up to four opposing teams, set their difficulty and then begin all ... Read the complete review
