Express Review on Train Simulator (PC)

Oh dear, oh dear, this program has given me nothing but trouble.

I purchased it about a year ago, installed it and used it a few times. After that it just continued to crash. I tried uninstalling and reinstallying, but nothing seemed to work.

I now have a free BVE 4 downloaded program which is much better and serves the same purpose!

Train Simulator is a game released in 2002 by Microsoft for PC which enables the player to take control of his/her favourite trains. Much detail has been put into the control of the trains as small tasks such as the rising and retraction of the pantograph. It has many different scenarios and also includes themed rides, for example in one particular "mission" you are required to transport the a member of the royal family to Innsbruck, and in another you are pushed to keep the tight schedule of the Japanese Commuter line. Premium Review Train Simulator (PC): Fulfill those childhood dreams! (374 words)

Fulfill all those childhood train driving dreams and upgrade yourself from that old Hornby Trainset!!! The game is very graphics intensive and therefore depending on the routes you want to install can take up to 2GB of your hard disk. Once installed you are taken to the main menu. There is a feature which enables you to sit back and enjoy a demonstartion train ride - which is rather boring. Like me I went straight for the 'Drive a train' section. This section requires you to pick a route to drive on first. Then a selected list of locomotives is made available wher eyou can pick what train you want to drive (not all trains can be driven on ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Oddly addictive (535 words)

You may think to yourself, how can a game where you drive a train for between 30mins and 2 hours be addictive? This is what I first thought when I saw the game in a game shop. I had a look at the back and I did think to myself that can driving a train bring much satisfaction? I play games to use up spare time and to feel like I have accomplised things and MS Train Sim didn't seem that like that type of game. So I went back home and decided to have a look at some writeups on it. First...its Microsoft so your paying maybe abit extra in the price but I got mine from Ebay so I didn't have to pay much :) Also..because its Microsoft it means that it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Train Simulator (PC): You either love it or you hate it (595 words)

I don?t usually write reviews on games, but Microsoft Train Simulator is just so exceptional I thought I must. I?m not even particularly interested in trains. I?ve never been train spotting and I?ve never taken an interest in how a locomotive works. However, when I saw Microsoft Train Simulator advertised, I thought, ?I?ve just got to have it.? The first thing being, it?s just such an unusual product. Yeah sure, you can get flight simulators and racing simulators, but who?s ever heard of a train simulator? On buying Train Simulator I was a bit apprehensive. What would it be like? The read-ups had all said that you need a high-spec PC to run it. ...  Read the complete review
