Turbo Pizza (pc game)
This is simply one of the games in which you have to be responsible for a number of tasks that should be finished in a given period of time. In this case, you play the role of Rebecca, the waitress, who should be responsible for preparing all the orders for the customers. The cooking part is done by a character called Robert, and the player has almost nothing to do with it. Like many other similar games, this one depends on clicking, in the sense that if the customer wants coffee, you click on the coffee maker, when the coffee is ready, then click on the customer, and then on the money. Of course you have to be quick to reach the goal, or even the Expert goal if you want, on time.
Some of the tasks which the waitress is responsible for include, in addition to getting the cola and cakes, putting the different kinds of pizza in the oven, turning the coffee maker and popcorn maker on, and filling the cones of ice cream. There are 50 levels to finish, and each five of them make a stage. After each level, you get the chance to visit a shop for buying what you might need for your restaurant. Here, you should choose wisely. I found the choices to be much better than the ones given in similar games, for they are definitely there to help you; not make your quest more complicated, as the others do. You can buy quicker ovens, coffee makers and popcorn makers, and better kinds of ice cream, soft drinks, and cakes. It is also possible to buy certain courses to become a better and quicker waitress, and courses for Robert to make him prepare the pizza more quickly. And because the "2 outrageous locations" that you build your two restaurants in are an old castle and a sunken ship, you are given the choice to buy decorations, or have better walls, door etc. After each of the stages, there is a task you have to complete, and in it you have to put certain ingredients on the pizza according to a certain design in time. I found this to be a childish addition to the game.
I liked the graphics in this game, for the two restaurants are different in a good way, especially the sunken ship in which divers keep spying on you. Rebecca, your player, and Robert wink at you when they have nothing to do, and this is definitely better than what Jill, in Cake Mania 2, does; she just looks at the reflection in the plate she carries to fix her hair. The music is ok; not memorable but not annoying exactly as the colors which look very shiny, but in fact aren't tiring to look at.
The game is fun to play but the problem is that once you finish it, and this won't take a very long time, you will have nothing else to do. It is definitely fast-paced, easy to learn, and remains addictive till you finish it. If you want to play it, preparing the coffee, and baking the pizza or seafood in the oven beforehand, that is at the beginning of each level, would be very helpful. I played the second version of this game (Turbo Subs) and I have to say that I found the first version much better. This is because the second one has certain complications to make it more difficult than the first one. This was supposed to be good, but the problem is that I didn't like these complications at all. If I get the chance to finish it, I might review it as well later on.
<> Price: $19.99 from Yahoo, and as usual you can try it for 60 minutes before you buy.
Summary: Fun, fast-paced, and easy.
