Advantages: Good game with non-linearaty(nice change)

This strategy game is loosely based on the excellent book by H.G. Wells, i differs from it at the start of the game.

In this game you can either play as the humans and your job in this is to repel the martian attack from the shores of the UK, or you can play as the Martians where your job it to crush the puny humans into the ground. The game is playen in england which has been split up into different sectors.

There is quite a lot of technologies that you can resarch into to improve your chances in either repelling the invaders or destroying the attackers. There is not all that many units to choose from and all the resarch does is to improve the quallity of the units eg, bigger guns or better armor.

Appart from the units you can build defences in your sectors to hope to stop the invaders this can be things like fences, mines or guns lots of guns, that is if you are the humans im not sure of the martian defences as i dont play as them but it is probably the same.

One difference with this game than the other types of RTS games is this one does not go one mission after the other it is a nonlinear game, so that no two games should ever be the same, which makes a nice change.

Another nice feature of this game is the movie clips and the speech for the clips, the movie clips are at the start and probably at the end and the one at the start give an account of what the war is about and the martian one is about why they are attacking(good to watch). The soundtrack that is present is quite nice and it comes from the War of the Worlds musical with a little bit of remixing.
This is a good game with good atmosphire especially with the day and night cycles, nicht cycles have the headlights from the cars in them(a nice touch).
