Well where can i start...I was given warcraft 2 Battle.Net edition for christmas about two and a half years ago, wow! was my first reaction on loading it up first time.

The animation sequences to start of with are amazing for a game of its type and not too long like alot of over the top pc games you get these days.

The point of warcraft 2 as with warcraft 1 is to build up a small town/village with various buildings (farms, barracks, castle, lumber mill, blacksmith etc) and defend it against other players who are trying to annihilate you while your trying to annihilate them.
Playing the game you have the choice of two campaigns as either race Orcs or Humans, the first campaign as orc or human starts of pretty much the same as in warcraft 1 (if you havent played warcraft 1 dont worry you dont need to),once you get going tho it gets gradually harder and harder on each mission.

Playing both campaigns will take you through approximately 28 single player scenarios. Once you have mastered the scenarios the fun begins, oh yes it has only begun!).

Included in wc2 battlenet edition is the map editor which will let you design your own maps! the process of map design is so easy to handle and get to grips with it is unbelievable. There are already maps available but designing your own is a must!
With these maps you can play one off matches with up to 8 computer opponents customising game speed, map tileset (winter,forest etc...) and how much gold and lumber you have to build with.

Once you have mastered taking on 8 computer opponents at once (only joking) and thought that you have had all the fun you possibly can it gets better!

With an internet connection to any isp of your choice, you can embark on the "full-scale internet war!" [Blizzard Entertainment]
by simply dialing up the normal way to your isp, you then open up warcraft as normal as if playing offline, and choose the multiplayer option in
stead of single player. This will take you to a list of multiplayer options. there is several options available such as direct connection, ipx network, modem connection or battle.net connection.

Once you have clicked on battle.net connection it gives you a choice of servers to connect to europe, us east, us west and asia. Usually you would pick your nearest for best connection speeds but it doesnt matter which you choose. Once you've decided which part of the world you wish to play in you can create an online username and password which gives you access to
the games forum, where you can create and join games or just chat!
Most of the options online are the same for offline, with the exception of your opponents, who are real.

The community on battle.net is huge and you soon make lots of friends and allies to play warcraft online with.
One of the better things when playing online with battle.net is that you can play with allies eg: you and your mate fred vs whoever all starting in different place on the map and beating your enemies up.
This is a truely amazing online experience, and best of all the battle.net service is FREE unlike most online games where they expect you to pay for connection to their server!
Once you have played this gvame you will be addicted believe me, I like this game so much that I bought a second copy for my other pc so we can play over a network.
It was money well spent!
