5 years after Relic launched "Warhammer 40k Dawn of War" They have released the long awaited sequel in the form of "Dawn of War II". Now I know that there have been other games in the "Dawn of War" series since the original but these have all been expansions to the original and so not really a formal sequel as such. The game is set in the distant future of the 41st millennium, Man has reached out into space and has found that we are not alone as there are several other races of creatures out there who all seem hell bent on ruling the universe and everything in it. Main plot line ========= The ... Read the complete review

Relic Entertainment's Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War have been one of the leading contenders for the RTS (Real-time strategy) throne in recent years. In which time the game has released three expansions. Now it is time for the dawn of a new era - it is time for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - a new breed of challenger to continue where the original left off! This second major release includes the long awaited introduction of the Tyranid race, who have come included in an epic struggle of conflicts with the Orks, Eldar and Space Marines for you to command. Advacned tactical game-play has been incorporated into Dawn of War II alongside the new and ... Read the complete review

Rating:
Dawn of War 2 is, as the name suggests, the sequel to the hit game Dawn of War. The original Dawn of War was a typcial Real Time Strategy game. Build a base, build troops, harvest resources, repeat until you've got a huge army and charge headlong to the enemy and wipe them off the face of the planet. The game had several expansion packs adding in new races from the Warhammer 40,000 universe until the full sequel was announced. Now the sequel, Dawn of War 2, has taken a lot of that original game and thrown it out of the window. For what it's worth it feels a lot more like a new game rather than a sequel and that's kind of a shame. Campaigns are ... Read the complete review

Rating:
Set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Dawn of War 2 is the sequel to Relic's first Dawn of War, and not only do I find this game better than the original, I rank this as one of the all time best games in the RTS genre. It is unusual for a sequel to deviate this much in terms of gameplay from a successful title with numerous mission packs, but this is what Relic have done. You take command of a much smaller amount of troops than before, which means you spend more time actually looking after your troops and getting the best use out of them. Also changed is the base building - it's non existant now! Instead the game focuses on wargear for your characters, much ... Read the complete review

Rating:
The original Dawn of War was your typical RTS style game - expand your base, expand your army and charge youe enemies. Dawn of War 2 has changed the way you play in the Warhammer universe dramatically. To start with there are only four races, each sporting roughly 10 different units. Compared to the 20 unique units of the original games' 8 races, this is obviously less. So does this mean that the game is worse? Well that is, of course, a matter of opinion. In the new Warhammer installment you cannot expand your base and your army is limited to a relatviely tiny number, but the micro-management capabilities of all of your units has been greatly ...
