Advantages: co-op and multi-play, great graphics, new races and units, epic campaigns
Disadvantages: you need a high spec PC to play
Relic Entertainment's Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War have been one of the leading contenders for the RTS (Real-time strategy) throne in recent years. In which time the game has released three expansions. Now it is time for the dawn of a new era - it is time for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - a new breed of challenger to continue where the original left off!
This second major release includes the long awaited introduction of the Tyranid race, who have come included in an epic struggle of conflicts with the Orks, Eldar and Space Marines for you to command.
Advacned tactical game-play has been incorporated into Dawn of War II alongside the new and improved Essence 'gaming' Engine, which will focus more on defensive aspects, such as using terrain more effectively and environmental cover. Weapon damages have been altered to combat the environment more realistically. Expect to see area effects such as grenade launchers and flame throwers have more of an impact in battle than ever before.
Single player campaigns, multi-player and co-op play has been adapted for additional online interaction via TrueSkill matchmaking systems, in attempt to reduce more experienced players going head-to-head with a novice to make the online aspects more appealing to new players.
Upon completing missions in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II you will be given attribute points to build your character to your specification to suit your style of play, along with various wargear to enhance unit abilities such as energy based abilities, global abilities, ranged abilities limited use abilities, battle cry, demolition charges, combat jumps, drop pod abilities, focus fire, frag grenades, infiltrate and high powered shots, along with various power-ups and pick-ups to boost prolonged exploration and squad enhancements.
