Advantages: More of what you would expect

Disadvantages: Nothing new

Well, what can I say? I pretty much had to but this, having bought the other three installments of the series. This time around the gameplay is not much different from the previous outing (considering the departure from Winter Assualt that Dark Crusade was). Things are pretty competant considering the developers have changed, and this time around, you get to play over a wole system rather than on planet (which makes it slightly more tactical). The graphics are great, gamplay is fine (considering I have a budget graphics card), with the added dimension of 'faith' and 'soul' resources (which slightly change the way you can play with the Sisters of Battle and Dark Eldar.

My one gripe would be how simple the game is on easy and medium settings. I started out, like a wuss on easy, to get the hang of it, and generally, your enemy justs stays put. Doesn't attack en mass, doesn't counter attack in the main planetary system screen. Poor!

The two additional races are fair enough, but still nowhere near as engaging as the Space Marines. I for onw would have though they would have introiced the tyranids, but I hear that THQ have saved them for Dawn of War 2 (which, can I just say, I wish I had a Playstaion 3 in order to play......)

All in all, a perfectly acceptable way to spend £10, although you can tell that the franchise has started to run out of steam and is in need of a kick-start.

Summary: THQ give the people what they want
