Advantages: Player Vs Player interaction
Disadvantages: Monthly Payment
The Burning Crusade was a triumpth and so much more than just an expansion to the world wide phenomenon, World of Warcraft. I was and still am one of the 9million people currently playing the game and loving every second it provides.
Where to begin? well for those who are unfamiliar with this MMORPG (Massive, Multiplayer, Online, Role-playing, Game), it's basic outline is that there is this 'World' full of magic, heroism and bravery in which you controll your character(s) through litterally thousands of quests, 70 levels and with an estimated 50,000+ items which have all been created by the Blizzard team (makers)over several years of constant enhancment to the game. Think of a 'Lord of the rings' setting and this game falls politely into it.
Back to the review, and 'The Burning Crusade' (Tbc) which when it was released sold over 1.3million copies in the first few days, making it the fastest selling game of all time, in my opinion is worthy of that title. The expansion offered a whole new continent to explore, and the chance to battle through to level 70 (when the previous level cap stood at 60). When i say continent, i mean continent - the games land mass pritty much doubled, and seeing as the game has very few loading screens, the freedom feels endless and excites you everytime you log in.
The expansion also allowed you to play as two new races, adding to an already large collection of races and classes available (From Trolls to your average Human). The Burning Crusade created the 'Draenei' race for the Alliance (Good folk), basically a tall, strong lizard like creature which looks extremely good in certainarmour, and very bad in others. The 'Horde' (Evil side) got the 'Blood Elves', a dark race similar to the Elves of the Alliance, but much less friendly.
A key part to the Burning Crusade, and a factor which has existed since the beginning of the game several years ago, is the abillity to 'make friends' and play in groups. This isn't a load of rubbish believe me, you will come into contact with an endless supply of people you love and people you hate, for each servers population is ever changing with up to 100,000 people capable of playing. 'Instancing' and 'Raiding' are common activities where players will interact and come together as a team to succeed in some very intence play. You will fight through dungeons with up to 25 players, slaughtering all kinds of beings. Guilds are another area where players get the chance to make friends and organise activities such as instancing. Guilds themselves will progress through certain high-level raids, proving their strength and earning valiant rewards (new armour, mounts and gold etc).
Something i feel needs to be mensioned is how a person would controll their character(s) through the world. It begins very slowely and quickly builds in pace. You arn't thrown into the world and expected to be the hero you will eventually become over-night. Abillitys start basic and then gradually you are able to customise your character in litterally any way you feel fit. At level 70 you will have hundreds of spells/shots and moves to use and over time you will become gradually more efficient at controlling them.
'PVP' (Player Verses Player) is where players from the 'Horde' and 'Alliance' are given the chance to fight in some truely epic settings called 'Battlegrounds' (these become available after level10 is reached by your character). The biggest Battleground consists of 40 players vs 40 in a snowy mountainous region where buildings are destructable and NPCs also join in the fun of a huge online war. If you have better armour then you are ofcourse more likely to survive the fight, or kill more horde players than your companions. But PVP is mostly about fun and also recieving rewards for your heroism from 'Venders' who see you as being worthy or some very powerful objects.
Its not all about fighting. If prefered a player can relax in one of their factions major cities, where attack from the enemy is very unlikely. Auction houses exist there, players can trade and sell items, making profet by finding and selling objects, or even creating items like potions, armour and weapons themselves through using a profession.
Anything goes in World Of Warcraft, thats why this game is so unique and huge! Its an epic adventure that has fueled me for 2years and will continue to do so for a very long time to come.
I wish I could write more, there is so much more, seriously try this game and be amazed.
overall - The best game ive ever played, by far.
Summary: The most impressive game ive seen.
