Fun and addictive (Worms 2)

Worms 2 is an addictive strategy game that is great fun when playing alone or with friends and family. The game basically allows you to control a mini group of worms and use them to take out an opposing team of worms (can be player controlled or CPU controlled) using multiple weapons such as the bazooka, grenade, minigun and dynamite. Some memorable weapons include the banana bomb, holy hand grenade and the priceless ming-vase. The sound effects of these weapons are hilarious and I almost fell out of my chair when I heard "hallelujah!" after using the holy hand grenade for the first time.

The worms are simple 2d sprites and can be moved easily using a keyboard; however you can most likely map the keyboard commands to a mouse. The landscapes are normally very vibrant and vivid, making for a very colourful and attractive game.

While in game, the worms come out with quirky, funny lines. "I'll get you!" is frequently said when you attack an opposing team and in most cases they're right, usually coming back with "revenge!" once they've managed to strike back.

The game is available on multiple platforms, but in my honest opinion, I feel that the PC is really the best platform to play it on. Using a mouse allows for much more flexibility when observing and marking out the best place to fire.
Worms 2 comes with multiple editors allowing you to greatly customise the game. You can create your own new landscapes and edit weapons allowing you to let your creative juices flow. You can also record your own voice which can be used for worm speech ingame. This can be quite funny as you can pretty much say anything you want.

For such a trivial and simple game, Worms 2 is highly competitive. The game forces you to be tactful, rather than shooting all over the place. Items such as the jetpack or teleportation come in handy as they allow you to get in great positions on a map where you can single out an enemy worm without having to worry about your worm being taken out.

Overall worms 2 is a highly entertaining game that will keep you keep amused for hours and hours. It is not a serious game and can be played by the casual and non-casual gamer alike.
