Xtension was released by the developers as an expansion to the mesmerising X - Beyond the Frontier (XBTF), perhaps originally as a stopgap until both the new X Online multiplayer experience and X2 -the Threat are available, hopefully very soon. With Xtension, all the familiar territory is where you expect it to be, but with a vastly increased trading map of the galaxy - the Borg-like Xenon have been defeated (by you the player at the end of XBTF) and their sectors have been opened up as a result.
