X-Wing:Alliance is yet another Star Wars game from the mighty Lucasarts merchandise production line. Fortunately for us though, this one is not another lacklustre Phantom Menace cash-in but another fully fledged member of the successful X-Wing line of space combat simulations. After the relative letdown of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, Lucasarts have obviously set out to answer that game's critics. The chief allegation being that the large scale multiplayer battles were only available to 9 pasty faced geeks with their own ethernet, somewhere underneath Penge. The other big criticism was the the graphics were still looking outdated despite the adoption of 3D ...  Read the complete review

If you like Star Wars, like flight/space sims, likes X-Wing or Tie Fighter, then buy this game now. This is the pinnacle of the Star Wars space sim series. It had great graphics, awesome sound and over 40 missions, as well as multiplayer, combat simulator, skirmishes, training and so much more. I must warn you though. Some of the missions are virtually on the impossible side, but the funny thing is that it doesn’t matter. The missions are so varied and fun ranging from delivery to protection to, oh yeh, destroying the DEATH STAR!!!. Yep, this is set after Empire and runs parallel up until the end of Return of the Jedi. The final missions ARE Return of ...  Read the complete review

This entry in the X-Wing series takes a very different approach to the plot. Rather than have you start as a rebel or imperial, you begin as a neutral trader. However, one of you competitors sets you up, and the empire move in to confiscate your families trading empire, capturing several family members along the way. After this first segment, you join the rebellion, but are still called away on family related missions from time to time. Graphically, this game is brilliant. The lighting effects are stunning - on one mission I though everything looked too blue until I spotted a hugh blue nebula casting light over the entire scene! Your base for much of ...  Read the complete review

I have always been a fan of the Star Wars Space Sim?s, but I found that Tie Fighter Vs X-Wing lacked true continuity, as all you had to do was win 4 times. However then I bought X-Wing Alliance, and I still play it nearly two years after I originally bought it!! Lucasarts have come up with a non involved family as the basis for the game, a family that is drawn into the fight between the evil Empire, and the constantly battling Rebel Alliance. They are a family of traders called the 'Azzameens', who try to make a living in the galaxy in which they live. However they face tough competition in the form of another trader called 'Carmen Viraxo' who ...  Read the complete review

This is the last ever x-wing game made inside the original trilogy of Star wars. Damn! But apart from that interesting little fact this game completely rocks yours and my arse. I’m not really a big fan of flight Sims but this one completely rocks. It sees you take on Tie fighters and other various craft to defend your home in one story line and defeat the empire in the other story line, yes that right this is one of the first games and actually give you two good storylines. There is also a large range of crafts, which you can destroy, crash of if you really want to, fly. ...  Read the complete review
