I needed a good power supply that would power my monster of a computer and for this component money really wasn't an option as I needed to make sure that it would have more than enough power and not surge out and damage any of my other components. After shopping around and talking to some people I chose the Corsair HX1000W power supply, 1000 watts of pure power brought to you from none other than corsair. This is a name which I trust and yes I paid the very steep price of £175 so it's not cheap. So for that price allow me to list just a few of what it has to offer.

As I said that's just a few there's more but I feel like these are the most important ones that would impress any ready. This apparently guarantees 1000 watts of power at 50 degrees; I can't say that I've tested this yet because my computer currently doesn't use that much power. What I can say is this powers my computer just great since I installed it I've never had any problems concerning power.
This device runs pretty much silent in my computer; I hear a little noise every now and then if the fan needs to speed up but other than that its great seeing as my last power supply was actually pretty loud. On the box was a nice chart of the decibels this thing is supposed to give off as it increases in wattage that it needs to use and I would say it's going to be pretty quiet until around 750-800 watts then It starts getting to around 35dBA.
This is a modular power supply meaning you only need to use the cables that you need, there are no unnecessary extra wires dangling in the machine just waiting to be a hazard to your other components. In the box you get the standard ATX connector, 2 EPS connectors, 6 PCI-E connectors, 12 Molex connectors, 12 SATA connectors. This is everything you will ever need in a computer, I think the only thing I could think of that you may need is if you was using quad graphics cards but let's face it there's a very small minority actually doing that.
This device comes with heap loads of security for that what if moment, the 105 degree capacitors are ready for you to push them to limit and I bet they can take a beating. Not only that you are offered under voltage and short circuit protection, combine this with a UPS plug and you've got the best of the best in terms of voltage protection. Corsair say that you have around 100,000 hours use of this before you should replace it, I'm no mathematician but that's going to take like 10 years if you run it for 24 hours a day 7 days a week. So I think were safe with this device and corsair is that confident they give you a 5 year warranty with this power supply! That's right so if it fails at any point in 5 years you can have it replaced.
Ive been using this now for about a month and Ive not had any problems with it and as I say its incredibly silent up to now, this may get louder as I add more in my computer and require more power. Not only that but im good with this device for at least 5 years if I wish, this was one expensive add on to my computer but necessary and now I know its not going to short any of my other much more expensive components in my computer. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to build an expensive computer because you just can't put a price on protecting your expensive equipment.
