Advantages: Thin. Dry. Neutralizes odour. Less chance of leakage. Individually wrapped.
Disadvantages: More expensive.
When it comes to sanitary production, my experience is that quality must take precedence over cost. When I have my period I use tampons and sanitary towels, depending on the day in the cycle, and whether it is day or night. I will generally use sanitary towels as extra protection when I am wearing tampons and my flow is particularly heavy, and I tend to wear sanitary towels at night. I can remember Always Ultra coming onto the UK market and I can remember how revolutionary the product was at the time and how I couldn't believe how much different they were to all of the opposition that I had tried. I think over the years we have become to expect more and there are now other sanitary brands that can give Always Ultra a run for their money, but for me, Always Ultra remains the best. There are different types of pad, but I tend to opt for the Always Ultra Night - which are longer and have extra absorbency - and a pack of 18 costs £3.69 from Tesco - which equates to 20p per towel. There is currently an offer on at Tesco which means you can buy two packets of these for just £4.00 - which means that each towel equates to only 10p per towel. These are certainly not the cheapest option on the market, but I am still more than happy to pay this amount for such high quality.
Each towel is individually folded and wrapped into a small thin square so that it can be carried separately in my handbag. The individual packaging is a purple plastic wrapper, which can also be used to wrap the used sanitary towel in also. Using the towel is simple and standard and involves peeling off the towel from the plastic wrapper and then sticking to your panties. The adhesive works well and I never find that the towel moves once it has been stuck down.
The towels are fairly thin and tapered and so it is not obvious to anyone else that you're wearing them - and because it isn't bulky then it's comfortable. The towel also has a soft silky feel to it and so it's not irritating. I particularly like that the towel is designed so that all of the flud is drawn into the towel and so the outer layers remain fairly dry and again this adds to the comfort. Once you can feel it is wet then it's time to change the towel! The fact that the fluid gets drawn into the towel also means that the fluid is drawn away from the edges and therefore there is much less chance of leakage around the edges - and this gives me peace of mind, particularly on those heavier days. I also like the fact that these towels have a system whereby odours are neutralised and so this helps everything to stay and smell fresh.
Overall, I think that Always Ultra are the best towels on the market and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
