An awkward subject but we're in it together ladies!

Advantages: Thin, Secure.
Disadvantages: Price. Night time protection.
I remember way back to primary school and the first year at secondary getting all embarrassed with my friends talking about the dreaded period. At the time we were given booklets and samples, most of which were from Always; at the time this stuff was like a foreign language (I had no clue). When I reached the tender age of twelve and the 'dreaded' arrived I used the samples and went from there, as I was illiterate in period technology my mam just bought me packets of sanitary towels as and when I needed them.
I remember most of the pads then were large in size and very bulky but as I was at school I needed the pre wrapped hygienically wrapped sort. I tried Kotex, Bodyform, own brands and Always. I found Bodyform tore easy (not pleasant), Kotex were bulky and own brands would hold minimal liquid. Always are and have been my sanitary wear of choice.
Always is a brand of feminine sanitary wear first released in 1983 under various names around the world; their line of products include scented wipes, maxi pads, ultra thins, panty liners, scented pads and incontinence pads (envive). Always are now under the global branding of Proctor and Gamble.
I have tried the ultra normal/plus, long/plus and night time with wings. The full range is extensive and includes the maxi range of thicker pads, ultra with freshelle, silk, ultra freshness, simply fits and pro fresh.
Normal/plus: this pad comes with or without wings and I have tried both; these come in a dark green or light green packet. The light green packet is normal which is the pad without wings, over the years it has had a makeover and now has '5 signs of protection in one pad'. The pad has a blue pattern and contains 'acti-pearls to neautralise odours, secureguard contours, super fit, cotton like topsheet and super absorbant core to lock fluid in. The pack contains 16 individually wrapped pads in a light green pack with a dark green Always banner on the front and the three out of six absorbancy rating. This pad I find is useful for use when the period is quite light such as the beginning or end days; although I find that the lack of wings can make the pad unstable and has led to the odd leak or two over the years.
Normal plus with wings is the same as the normal with regards to features but adds the safety of wings to the protection. The wings are shaped to fit the gusset of the pants easily and again I use this pad for the lighter days of flow and find this more comfortable as I know it is not going to move and leak from the sides. This pad is not very good on heavier flows or to be left for a period of over four hours as it is shorter in length and sitting down can move it to a position of leaking. This is the full green packet and contains 14 pads and moves up to the four droplet absorbancy.
The Always Ultra Long Plus with wings is my main pad of choice as it helps me feel secure throughout the day especially at work, when sitting or exercising. This pad is considered for heavier periods with the five droplet rating, however, I have a medium flow but as said like the security it provides. This pad agin has the '5 signs of protection in 1 pad' and comes in a pack of 12 with a dark purple design with the dark green Always banner.
Finally is the Ultra Night with wings which is obviously my choice of pad for the night times but I'm sure some ladies use this for a heavier flow during the day if they still want the 3mm thin pad. This pad has '6 signs of protection' which includes the over night coverage. This pad is great for the less heavy days but I'm afraid if you don't wear tampons (as I don't) then this pad does not protect from leaks coming up from the back of you. The pad comes in a pack of 10 in a full deep blue package.
The pads are dermatologically tested and I have had no problems from them with my skin. I find that they are very comfortable and the 3mm thickness means that they do not affect walking or the clothes I wear. After 14 years of the period I have become used to the pads and know exactly which one I need for which use and this definitely helps prevent leaks. Through the day the pads are fantastic but when laying down at night there can be issues.
A necessity for ladies so I have to pay the £1.99 regardless of whether I agree; sometimes there are deals in supermarkets of 2 for £3.
Summary: A comfortable ladies necessity.
