      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Excellent product for comfort and protection

Warning: This is a review of sanitary towels, if you are a gentleman of a nervous disposition and don''t want to see words such as "period" "time of the month" "absorbency" and "flow" then look away now! First of all, I think all Always products are great. I have been using them since I started using sanitary pads. I have used other brands on and off but always come back to Always. Periods can be tricky times, and the most vital thing is to have sanitary protection that you can rely on, and that is comfortable. These pads stick on really well and don''t budge until you want them too. This essentially means that they give you all the protection you need, and are comfortable, as you have something flat on your knickers rather than something all bunched up and nasty. I prefer the "plus" products to the regular ones as the wings make them even more secure. The only reason I have given this product 4 rather than 5 stars is that I feel the "with silk" aspect is completely unnecessary and just makes the product more expensive. In my opinion the Always Ultra Normal Plus (regular without silk) are absolutely fine, and are slightly more economical. As a leading brand they are more expensive than supermarket or pharmacy own brands, but I feel that it''s worth it to make a rather uncomfortable time a little less unpleasant. because they are a leading brand they often have special offers, so stock up when you see them!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A good sanitary towel for that time of month.

This product is by far the best product I have used for the woman's monthly period. I hated using the really thick Always original towels. I found them really uncomfortable to wear. Then they started bringing out these silk Always which they are starting to discontinue. However, they are bringing out a similar product called Silk Collection which are black and apparently for a limited amount of time. Anyway, back to this product. They are very soft and thin and barely noticeable when you are wearing them. Considering you wear a thick pad to capture everything, this thin pad does the exact same but with more comfort.

These pads are well known for secure guard, super absorbent and silky soft top sheet and this is very correct. I always buy the ones with the wings because I like extra security and I find that wearing one without wings makes the pad scrunch. I have tried a couple of other brands through emergencies but I always come back to these silk.

Now the new design is out these pads are quite expensive. You are talking around £3.50 - £4.50 for just 10 pads. I try my hardest in the weeks before to get them on offer in Wilkinson for around £1.90. However, I would most likely still pay the expensive prices just for that extra comfort whilst on my monthly period. So in actual fact I would highly recommend these Always Silk Sanitary Towels to all women who have their monthly period. They are very effective and worth the money. They come in different sizes and strengths but they still cost the same price.

the best pads you can buy

Before you read, remember this review is for a product used to help with feminine hygiene. There is a lot of information about the product in detail so please avert your eyes if you would not feel comfortable reading on.

I have (like most people who will read this) had periods for many years and despite being a hassle, I prefer to make them as hygienic and comfortable as possible. The two main brands I favour are Always (for pads) and Tampax (for tampons) - as I choose either depending on my mood & what I'm wearing that day.

The 'Always Ultra with silk' sanitary towels are available in three different types depending on how heavy your flow is: Normal, Normal Plus and Long Plus. I tend to buy all three and use them at different stages of my period as I feel that sometimes one is too thick or too thin.

As you can see from the image, they are packaged in a thin plastic wrapper which is easily opened to reveal 12 individually wrapped pads. The outside is quite obvious to spot on the shelf and the writing is easy to read. They also have the teardrop on the front which helps you to work out which type of pad. (for example, the more coloured tear drops, the more absorbency). The pads being individually wrapped means you can discreetly carry one around with you so it is there when you need it. The wrapper has a tab which means for hygienic disposal of your used pad. The pad itself has a sticky underside which makes it easy to stick to your knickers so it does not slip around throughout the day, protected before use by the wrapper. The pad is approximately 15-20cm's long. The layer (without sounding too disgusting) that you bleed onto is quite silky as the brand states it should be, making it comfortable against the skin.

One of my main issues when buying a pad is whether or not it looks/feels like I am wearing a nappy. I have tried many brands and different types of pad before this and some mad me very conscious throughout the day, although this specific product made me feel at ease. I felt that it was big enough to protect leakage and not bulky. I could still wear leggings without being scared of others seeing the pad outline. The silky top layer helps a lot as some pads can irritate your lady region which makes me personally just want to sit at home and not venture to the shops.
If you opt for the version with wings, it means that your pad will be held in place for longer and not slip about (as sometimes pads without wings can move without your consent). There is no sticky left in your underwear afterwards either which is perfect to keep your underwear at best.

On the back of the product it states that it has many signs of protection.
Stay put wings to help keep your pad in place, but you can choose to buy pads without if you prefer.
Silky soft top sheet/extra silky softness making it comfortable on your skin and not irritable.
Super absorbent core to help lock away fluids to keep you feeling fresher and comfortable.
Soft dry effect so you feel dry quickly (as some pads make you feel wet down there)

Personally, I prefer to use pads for the first 2 days of my period as I feel that they are much more comfortable than tampons. I think they also provide a lot more protection. I was quite surprised at how little 'damp' I felt down there through my period as some other pads I have used didn't soak for quite a while which wasn't very comforting. I would recommend to change the pad every 2-4 hours through as this way you will be fresher and more relaxed.

If you wish to purchase a pack of these, they are available from drug stores, pharmacies or supermarkets. Boots currently have a special offer *2 packs of Always for £3* when they cost £2.40 individually - worth stocking up!

I have to say, I would recommend this to anyone who finds pads to be uncomfortable and itchy as these are comfortable to the point where you almost cannot feel it. It definately does everything it states and will give you the protection you need.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A nice product, would recommend.

I got caught out on a day out shopping with friends and had to go into Boots to buy some towels asap. They didn't have my usual brand, so I had to try something new; something which I don't really like to do, because I think once you start using the same brand all the time (especially when it comes to towels and tampons) it's nice to be able to trust that the product you're using wont let you down!

Anyway, I bought these towels and was pleased with them. They fit well, and were comfy; I hardly realised I was even wearing anything - which is nice when you already feel uncomfy and a bit sick. They were also really soft and it felt as though it was just the material of my underwear. Being smooth was a real plus point for me, and it made me feel cleaner and much more comfortable. They were easy to use, and weren't over packed with bits of plastic and packaging when you open them up - which is much more convenient when you're out and about and trying to get on with your life!

The only downside to them was that I found they weren't as absorbent as my usual towels, and I was having to change them a lot more frequently. This wasn't a major issue but it didn't make the product any better.

Despite this, I think that I would still recommend them to someone who wanted to try something new, and perhaps in particular to girls who are only just starting to use these products, because you really can't tell that you're wearing anything. I have used this product a few times since I used them the first time and I have been pleased with them every time. Was a brilliant product.

        Hope this was helpful :)

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A reliable product for those difficult times of the month!

A word of warning before we get started: this product is designed for intimate feminine hygiene, so this review may contain some bits that have too much information for your liking. Look away if you don't want to read about "women's problems"!

These Ultra with Silk sanitary pads are from the feminine hygiene range produced by Always. I've used always for many years and they are a trusted brand that a lot of women rely on. I was intrigued by the rather luxurious sounding silk lining on this product so decided to give them a try. There are three different varieties of this product available: Normal, Normal Plus, or Long Plus. This review is for the Normal Plus pads.

Product description: "Only Always Ultra with Silk has the unique combination of these 6 signs of protection:
          1. Silky Soft Top sheet - Super soft on your skin
          2. Super Absorbent Core - Locks fluid away
          3. Stay put Wings - Double curved wings that keep your pad in place
          4. Secure GuardTM Protective Contours - Keeps fluid in check
          5. New Soft Dry EffectTM - So you feel dry in an instant
          6. Extra silky softness - Enjoy a lighter feeling with a silk top sheet
          Dermatologically tested."

The packaging states that these pads measure in at 221mm, and they are given (what I think is) an absorbency rating of 4/6 raindrops. Nice visual. I guess they could be representing blood drops. Each packet contains 12 individually wrapped sanitary pads. They are wrapped up in a nice compact way that minimises excess packaging. This also means you can slip one inside the pocket of your handbag for when you need to change, and it isn't too obvious or take up too much space. There is also a handy sticky tab on the outside so that you can wrap up the used pad in the packaging from the new pad before you dispose of it.

The pads are comfortable to wear and even though they look quite large they don't feel bulky. The silk top layer does feel particularly soft and is nice against the skin, leaving the area free of irritation. I wouldn't feel right going around wearing tight fitting clothes when I'm on my period, so I tend to stick to something a bit more casual and loose during this time and there are no issues with visibility or bumps in clothing.

My periods tend to be infrequent and light thanks to the effects of me using the contraceptive injection. This is a bonus for me, and so I tend not to worry about my period too much as it only occurs every third month or so. I was expecting these pads to be more absorbent than they were in practice. I do not bleed a great deal and was surprised that I could feel moistness in that area during the day, and the pads do not seem to soak up as effectively as I had hoped. This isn't too much of a problem as long as they are changed frequently to help you keep fresh and clean.

I chose these sanitary pads in the Normal Plus variety as they came with wings, whereas the Normal pads did not. I prefer the more secure feeling you get from having the wings to make sure the pad stays safely in place. The adhesive used on this item is very effective, it's strong enough to hold the pad in position and the wings ensure that it does not shift at all. There are also no sticky glue marks left behind on my underwear after I've removed the pad, which has been a problem with some cheaper alternatives.

Overall I think this is a reliable product that I would happily buy again.
