Advantages: Leave you feeling fresh and clean without making you sore.
Disadvantages: They can be quite expensive to buy.
Andrex Moist Toilet tissue is something that was introduced to me a couple of years ago when I was caring for my grandmother. Due to a combination of age and illness she became very frail and needed more and more help with things, and found most aspects of personal care quite hard to manage on her own.
One thing she had difficulty with was wiping properly after using the toilet because she was by then leaning on a frame when ever she stood. She found it very demeaning to have to ask for assistance whether from us or from personal carers even when she'd let us help her with other aspects of personal care, and for a time at least these moist tissues enabled her to care for her own toilet needs as they clean the bottom far more easily and quickly than ordinary toilet tissue does.
As time went on and she became more frail her skin became more delicate and even when she finally gave in and allowed us to help her more and more, these were still a very useful tool as they are so gentle on the skin, and less pressure is needed to attain a clean wipe.
From my own personal point of view I've experienced using them to assist my grandmother as described above, but I've also discovered that when my IBS plays up and I'm making a dozen or more trips to the bathroom in a single afternoon, these can be a godsend as using them is much more gentle on my skin than regular toilet tissue and leaves me feeling much fresher too.
Unlike regular toilet tissue these come in a pack laid flat, but sort of have perforations between the sheets like loo roll does. They're a bit like baby wipes to be honest, and in fact do a similar job if you think about it. I suppose you could consider them an adult version.
They're not cheap however. You get 42 wipes per box, and each box costs around £2. If you keep your eyes open however, they can sometimes be found more cheaply. As well as the boxes, you can also get refill packs which contain the same number of wipes, but come without the box (just wrapped in plastic) and which can then be placed inside the box and used in the usual way. These are cheaper, and less wasteful than buying a new box each time.
The wipes are very good quality and I've never needed more than one at a time, It's worth noting however, that according to the packet you shouldn't flush more than two at a time and I'd hate to think how badly they might block things up for anyone on a septic tank! They are a little on the wet side sometimes, and initially this can be a little disconcerting, but it's this moistness that allows you to wipe easily and more gently and therefore it's a positive thing not a negative one in my opinion.
Summary: Moist wipes that clean & freshen without leaving you sore,
