Advantages: Cheap, work well
Disadvantages: I'd argue the toss that they're maxi!
Ok ladies the majority of us have periods! Men you've got off lightly in my view! Not only do we have to put with mood swings, being bloated, bleeding like a stuffed pig and generally feeling rough it's a trial and tribulation to find sanitary towels that don't rip and shred and that absorb the mess well for a reasonable price!
Me, well I'll use tampons or towels but at the beginning of my period I can't use tampons due to pain so I resort to towels and because they simple get used and chucked with regularity by me I do try to sniff out cheaper (but quality options) from time to time.
I came across these in Asda costing 89p for a pack of 14. Seemed like value to me!
The Packaging:
Long purple coloured plastic packet with a photograph on the sanitary towel on the front. I am told they Asda Freestyle 'Maxi' and that of course as I've said already contain 14 Super 'Wing Winged' Towels and that they are shaped for comfort. The back is the same as the front and on the sides of the pack other information includes being told a bit about the product, I'm told a bit about other 'Freestyle' products on offer from Asda and contact details for them are given. It's a nice easy to open bag that doesn't rip and/of tear anywhere and it's informative enough.
The Sanitary Towels:
According to the information on the pack the pad is shaped to the body and is cotton soft to the touch and that they contain odour control pearls to give added freshness and discretion. I agree, these are great.
Very long and not too thick when you pull a pad out of the packet, the wings are folded over the top of the pad and secured with a sticky label and there is a long label on the back of it protecting the sticky strip you take off and stick to your pants!
White in colour, you can see the cotton wool pad under the soft cotton, slightly perforated top layer and it looks decent quality and nothing out of the norm.
To use them it's simple of course! Take off the the labels and stick them to your pants (preferably not a g string or a thong ladies lol). They stick firm, stay in place and it's up to you and your flow how often you change them. They do see to contour to your body as well and feel comfortable enough whilst you are wearing them and I've never found them to leak or anything like that. The blood is taken from your body and absorbed well!
Verdict:
They are great however calling them 'Maxi' I think is a bit ambitious of Asda and I'd say they're more of a good quality' normal' flow type of one. I've found they don't chaff my legs, move out of my underwear and really do absorb well and as for odour control, yes I think they do that well enough too!
Not the best sanitary towels that I've ever used but they not bad with no issues at all apart from the fact they're not all that thick but saying that least they don't bulge unsightly anywhere!
Only available in Asda stores and other varieties are available.
Summary: A reasonable personal item!
