      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I had a terrible time because of this product, will be avoiding them in the future

A word of warning before we get started: this product is designed for intimate feminine cleansing, and I happened to sufer from some severely unpleasant consequences after using it. This review may contain some bits that have too much information for your liking, but after such a really bad experience I really wanted to warn off potential buyers!

These Feminine Wipes are from the Simply Delicate range produced by Avon. Their standard RRP is £3.25 and they are currently on special offer at £1.65. The website states that the normal price per wipe is 20 pence each, but that does not compute for me based on the aforementioned prices!

These wipes are packaged in a plastic wrapper and come with a peel back re-sealable window on top, where yopu can remove the wipes one by one. You get 15 wipes per pack.

Avon say: "Leaves you feeling fresh and clean all day. Each application deodorises. Dermatologically tested and pH balanced."

I thought these would be perfect for when I was travelling and going to a festival over summer where I would not have access to proper washing facilities. I didn't fancy using ordinary facial wipes as I didn't want to irritate this delicate area. The wipes are nothing special to look at, they are normal looking white disposable cloths that are folded up inside the packet and are small enough to be easily portable so you can stash them away inside your handbag out of notice. The odd thing about them is that they have a very lemony fresh smell, which is more like a floor cleaner than a cleansing body product!

I first tried out these wipes at home to freshen up, and to check whether they were any good before I went away. I used the wipes over a period of three days and this is when I began to notice a problem. **It starts to get a bit icky here readers!!** First of all I noticed that the area had become very itchy and irritated. I tried to resist but it was really uncomfortable and I did end up having to scratch a bit... Then came the blemishes. After experiencing some pain as well as itching I had a look at the problem area and noticed that there were what looked like under the skin spots covering my skin. These were raised, itchy and sore. I washed with plain soap and water to try and keep it as clean as possible and stopped using the wipes as soon as this occurred, as it felt like it was stinging when I tried using one.

After that things got even worse, and the following day my skin was covered in open ulcerations which looked hideous and felt excruciatingly painful. I had to go to the doctor's to have it examined and was given a week's worth of antibiotics to clear the problem up. It was almost impossible to walk for any distance during this time as the ulcers were very fragile and any friction made them sharply painful. It took the full week before the wounds had cleared up and the high dosage of medication resulted in some nasty side effects which added to my discomfort.

As if this traumatic experience wasn't enough, I had sort of convinced myself that it might not have been the wipes that caused the problem, it might have been anything. So a few weeks later I gave one another try. The very next day I had the same tell tale itching that signalled the beginning of my skin problems from before, and then I knew it was most certainly the wipes that had given me this awful reaction. I do not have sensitive skin at all, and am not allergic to any ingredients. I do not suffer from any skin complaints opr conditions other than a little hormonal acne, anbd this was a real shock for me to have to go through.

I would certainly not recommend these cleansing wipes to anyone. I threw the rest of my pack away and would never ever buy them again. There is something seriously wrong with this product and I would advise all women to avoid them at all costs! This is a real disappointment as I am usually a big fan of Avon's products. Never again!
