Advantages: Extremely cheap, comfortable, stick well without twisting or slipping

Disadvantages: Not individually wrapped, but not a problem for me

I guess I should consider doing the "Dooyoo addiction" write-up if this is what it's coming to. I honestly never thought I would sit down and write a review about pantyliners. But in these penny-pinching days I particularly like reading reviews about products from value ranges and am often amazed at how cheap some things can be if you buy basic! Apart from anything else, it's pretty satisfying to know that you have more than paid for an item just by submitting your review!

So, pantyliners. I'm sure I can get through a review on a feminine hygiene product without ranging into gross territory, and scaring off any guys! As many ladies do, I like to wear a liner daily to keep feeling fresh and clean. Unfortunately the mark-up on products for us girls is slightly ridiculous. When I spotted this box in Boots on a run for "monthly supplies" I decided at 29p (yes, 29p!) it would be worth a try, even if they did turn out to be horrible.

To put that price into perspective before we even consider how the product turned out to be, an average 30-pack of brand name liners is round about £2, meaning you are paying around 6.6p a day. Doesn't sound like too much, but it adds up at around £24 a year. These liners are less than a penny a day, making for a yearly spend of less than £3.50! I'm sure you can think of something you would much prefer to spend that extra £20 on.

Anyway, I'm not overly fussy about name brands and certainly not for items like this, and I was really pleasantly surprised. Although they come in a bulky cardboard box and are not individually wrapped, as can be expected, this isn't really a big deal to me. I'm not in the habit of carting them round with me as one is plenty for the whole day and so one recyclable box is fine by me. It also means that they are quicker to use as they are not folded up inside a package.

My main concern was the amount of adhesive and whether they would just fall straight off, but again I was surprised. The liners are a pretty standard shape, fairly narrow and a size that will fit in any briefs, but only have a couple of thin lines of glue at the back when the paper strip is peeled off. However, as long as you give it a good press once you stick it on, it stays all day and I have never had any trouble with them slipping or falling. In fact, I accidentally sent one through the wash and was pretty surprised to find it still attached on the other side (fortunately all in one piece, we've all seen how much mess tissues can make)!

My other main concern was comfort - I hate liners with a scratchy plasticy covering and thought because these were so cheap it might be the case. However they are cotton-soft and I have worn them daily for the past three or four months in comfort.

Honestly, I can't see a reason not to buy these. I don't need to cart my liners around individually wrapped, and even if I did I have plenty of cute little coin purses I could shove them in. They work just as well as more expensive brands, I haven't found any "duds" which don't stick, and they don't "feel" cheap to wear. For 29p, what more could you ask? I've since discovered Tesco make their own value brand for 22p, so I will try them in due course!

Summary: A brilliant way to cut a few pennies on basic "lady products"!

I used to use these, and you're totally right, they're great for the price. I thought they'd stopped selling them though, so I changed to carefree, I'll check my local Boots next time I'm in to see if they've got them back, coz I agree I'd rather save the money and spend it on something interesting!
