Why I still use Dr. Whites (Dr. White's Looped Towels)

Advantages: More secure than press ons

Disadvantages: A bit bulky

I started using Dr.Whites when my periods started in the early 1980's. I tried many different press on towels since then but none really provide the same degree of security as looped towels worn with a belt. I don't get on with tampons and only use them rarely. Yes Dr Whites are more bulky than modern press on towels but I'm so used to them that that doesn't bother me at all. The adjustable sanitary belts you buy do slip down a bit so several years ago I had a go at making one to my own design, its non-elastic and sits closely on my hips; I used the hooks from an old Dr. White's belt. I've made several since and they really are a huge improvement, the towel is held much closer to my body and never slips or bunches up. My periods are quite heavy nowadays and I need a substantial towel at nights, Dr. Whites are by far my preferred form of protection.

Summary: Dr. Whites are by far my preferred form of protection.
