Durex 2 in 1 massage gel is one of the less ideal products to come from the Durex range. The container states that it is basically as good a lubricant as it is a massage gel, that couldn't be further from the truth.
I like to give my wife a good few massages so this naturally caught my eye, kill two birds with one stone and all that. Being the thought provoking company that Durex is they naturally created the bottle in the likeness of a sex toy let's be honest and the colour pink was no doubt slapped across it to appeal to Durex's female fans. Looks a bit tacky in my opinion.
Despite the rather unimaginative design I still picked it up and took it home and proceeded to use it as a massage gel, and it's horrific. I like to buy the massage bars from Lush, warm your hands up lather it on and it'll last a good hour if done right. Feels nice as you roll your hands over your other halves skin and is a pleasure to use. The Durex gel was quite the opposite, it absorbs into the skin to quickly, and any gel that doesn't get absorbed basically coagulates, if that's possible, over your fingers and on your other halves skin. Once that happens it is neither fun giving the massage or receiving it.
Sadly much is the same for its second use, a lubricant. It dry's out very quickly, making it redundant rather quickly. It also doesn't feel right when putting it on a condom or bare skin, comes out of the tube all wrong. Basically it's a bad product.
It can be quite cheap, so that's no doubt the appeal of the product. Why buy a lush bar that could cost around £8 or spend £8 on proper massage oil from somewhere like Holland & Barrett when you can get this for £3 or so. Well that extra fiver you've saved will undoubtedly lead to your other halves libido taking a hit when you use it and as such its purpose of you enjoying your night will leave you realising pretty quickly that this Massage Gel will come up short each and every time you decide to use it.
Save your pennies, buy a lush bar or one from the Holland & Barrett range as the Durex 2 in 1 Massage Gell is bad news, end of story.
My boyfriend and I as fans of the durex range and have a few of their lubricants, and to spice things up we thought that massages would be great! So off we skipped hand in hand to purchase this massage gel we'd heard about and came home to try it out.
Packaging: the bottle is quite sleek and doesn't look sinister or even embarrassing, you could have this lying around or in the bathroom cabinet without anyone giving it a second glance. It also comes in really pretty colours too and in no way appears sleazy (think Ann Summers products -shudder-) so my boyfriend decided to have his massage first, so after I lit a few candles, put on some nice music and grabbed the massage gel our passionate and romantic atmosphere was pieced by a loud, squelchy farting noise coming from the bottle as I tried to squeeze the product out. The bottle is quite sturdy and you need to give it a good old squeeze to get the product out which can be a bit of a moment killer especially if you're in the throws of passion!
Application: the gel is really sticky and it was like rubbing PVA glue into my boyfriend's back. The massaging was quite difficult because my hands kept sticking to him, which made me think this must be an awful alternative to lube! My boyfriend started to come out in little red patches all over his back so the sexy massage came to an end and it was a cool shower and pyjama time for him.
I don't think I'll be purchasing the massage gel again, although we love the other durex products this one isn't for us!
This has to be the worst idea ever thought of by durex not useful as a lubricant or a massage gel, I bought this for me and my girlfriend and she gave me a good massage but it was really weird it felt like glue and using it as a lubricant it was uncomfortable for her.
Normally we buy the plain lubricants by durex and they are very effective. We have never had issues with them except this one (massage 2 in 1) the best durex lubricant to purchase is durex tingle that's a good one, so i would suggest purchasing tingle and buying real massage oil i think if you look in the right place the cost is cheaper that way, theres also durex heat lubricant its okay but if you use to much and it begins to burn a bit and then there's the flavoured lubricants each to there own tho ay ;-)
My boyfriend persuaded me to pick this up the other day in Boots as a little 'treat' (his words, not mine!), and I hate, hate, hate it. I wouldn't reccomend it at all, it's horrible. It is available from lots of places such as chemists, supermarkets, online, etc. As I said before we got ours from Boots and paid £7.15 for a 200ml bottle. This is much more expensive than the usual lube we use however this can also be used for massages. The product comes in a simple looking bottle which looks a bit like a dildo if i'm honest, lol. It is pink in colour with the Durex logo and then the product name on the front.
The product is easy to dispence and when I used it I simply put a blob onto my hands, warmed it up by rubbing my hands together and then massaged onto my boyfriends back. It was hideous. It was like a big blob of gloopy mess which wouldn't spread easily at all, didn't absorb into his skin and it dried up in clumps within about 2 minutes of using it. We then attempted to use it as a lube but it glooped up so much on the condom that the condom was soaking wet, greasy and gloopy and there was no way was I going to let him insert that into me so it definetly ruined the mood! We then tried again and used the lube on skin, not a condom, and it worked a little better however again, dried up quite fast and we got through half a bottle in about 20 minutes so for the price I paid I wasn't very happy! On a plus side, it didn't make MY skin sore or itch, however it did make my boyfriends back feel tingly and itchy and made my rose (hopefully you will know what i'm referring to) tingle a bit which sounds as if it would be pleasant, but it wasn't.
The lube is water based and is clear in colour and has a thick gel like consistency. It is definetly more wattery than the usual Durex lube we use which I at first thought was an advantage but it isn't - it seems to make it dry quicker. The smell is pleasant but definetly not relaxing, and the taste has a weird artificial 'sweet' taste to it which made oral very unpleasant and the taste lingered even after my boyfriend washed it off. This lube/massage gel contains aloe vera which is said to 'soothe' skin. It actually made my bits feel unpleasantly tingly and made my boyfriends back itch! I would reccomend sticking to giving your partner massages with a massage oil, a nice scented moisturiser and I wouldn't reccomend this as a lube either as it gloops up and then dries on the skin - it is horrible and we had to have a shower afterwards. Don't waste your money!!
I can't say I am extremely shy when it comes to buying lubricants, condoms (etc) but I am also not the most brave shopper on the world... I imagine many have problems shopping these products or are feeling uncomfortable to some point as I am so buying this one might be a bit problematic to some since it is (compared to others) huge, no discrete buying possible it is deemed to be noticed at some point.
It looks aesthetic and playful as all Durex products do. It is water based so it is safe to use with condoms.
It is not especially pricey considering the quantity you get. It has no smell and it has a sweet taste.
It promises a well balanced combination of lubricant and massage gel, the delivery of the promise in my opinion is not the best. It is not very greasy so you do need to apply quite a lot to have a decent massage (not to much though), it dries up fast so you have to re-apply it often.
If you are not the kind to take showers after "naughty time" this one, especially if you use it for massage, will get you running to the shower. If I would say it leaves marks I would certainly be understating it. First time I used it (and was unprepared for the after affect) I almost died of fright because my back looked like all skin ruptured and was peeling of (ok a bit exaggerated description).
It is not the best of their products in my opinion, if you buy it you won't exactly be throwing it in the garbage, but using it as a massage gel won't be your priority.
Although as far as lubricant goes it ain't all that bad, nothing special though, but for the price it is good to buy here and there. I have to say though I do prefer other Durex lubes.
How embarrassing is it to walk into a shop and buy 'lube', personally I wouldn't know as I haven't ever had the confidence. Thank goodness for internet shopping!
Just ask yourself, would you walk into boots and pick up a bottle, walk up to the checkout point, hand it over to the lady or even worse gent serving?? Can you imagine what the staff would think, what you had in mind for the earning or near future!.
Ok so im sure the staff would be totally professional and wouldn't bat an eyelid or probably even notice what you were buying if you bought a few other 'bits' as well. But still in my mind as I walk through the shop there is a big flashing neon sign following me telling everyone around what is in my basket. The thought of making eye contact let alone a little small talk with someone seeing what im buying is just too much, in short I wouldn't go there BUT, I would buy massage oils and products of that nature without any embarrassment.
Personally I think that is why this product is advertised as a massage gel and lubricant, but a word of warning this is not good for a sensual shoulder rub.
It works very well as a water based lubricant but as a massage gel it is horrible. This gel will leave your skin feeling not sticky but with a definite residue on it. I would go so far as to say if you try this for a massage plan a shower afterwards in advance, you will need one.
The packaging I found quite nicely colour and the graphics are fine but the shape of the bottle to my taste was a little boring. I did however really like the nozzle with its rubberised valve as there was no spillage or drying up of the lubricant.
This doesn't really have a smell which again works ageist it as a massage aid but I suppose that is for sensitivity reasons when the gel is used on other areas.
I would not be embarrassed to buy this in a shop, face to face because it looks like a massage gel but I would never use it as such, there are far better products out there for that but as a lubricant I like its non oil content and would happily use this as my preferred product
As a massage aid 4 / 10
As a lubricant 8.5 / 10
Durex Play 2 in 1 massage
A mauve coloured gel which claims to be Massage gel & lubricant containing Vitamin E.
Warm some Durex Play massage gel in your palms and smooth over naked skin. Rest assured that if one thing leads to another, Play massage gel is sensitive enough for every part of your body and can even be used as a lubricant. It's water based, so is compatible with condoms and if you happen to taste it, you'll feel it pleasantly sweet.
Smooth wherever you like and reapply as often as you need.
It is not a contraceptive & does not contain spermicide.
We have found this to be an excellent massage 'oil' & lubricant. No claims made as to extra sensations, it just does what it says.
A most attractive coloured gel with a light smell & taste, is non sticky & water based. So no worries with your sheets & towels. It comes in a good solid plastic see through bottle with a secure lid (a phallic symbol shape!) No pump action, just squeeze the bottle.
Price is £6.19 at Amazon but we bought ours at Sainsbury's - look out for offers.
Bottle contains 200ml.
There does not appear to be any use by date or length of being opened date.
You must avoid contact with eyes in case irritation occurs in which case you would need to consult a doctor.
As with most things, you need to store at room temperature, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
Durex Play 2 in 1 Massage Gel
Another lube product from durex but is it any good?
well durex now have this lube as well as the heat, tingle, feel, and there two flavoured lubes too.
Im glad to be able to say that i have been fortunate to have tried them all ;) and this one is by far the best. It comes in the largest bottle compared top all of the others and tends to retail for around 5 pounds where as the others tend to retail in most places for about 3 pounds 50 pence.
This lube comes in a purple bottle with the durex logo on the front and all of the information on the front in white writing surrounded by white spirals. The cap on the bottom flips open and you can then squeeze the bottle to release the lube.
This lube can be used either for sex or massages. it tends to last quite a while and it does not go sticky which is great, it tastes cool too quite sweet. i have used other brands of lube to such as ann summers etc but this is by far the best and one of the cheapest too
The idea of this Gel is better than reality. It is meant to be a massage gel combined with a lubricant, and that in itself sounds disgusting, why would I rub lubricant over my body?!
It was sticky, gloopy, wouldn't rub into my boyfriends back and a complete waste of money and time. We both had to have a shower after and didn't even end up using it as a lubricant as it annoyed us so much!
If you use too little the gel doesn't "glide" anywhere, so you end up using half the bottle to give the massage! So anyway, that was too much so unless you have wet towels at the ready this really is a dire massage gel, it started to dry on my boyfriends back and he couldn't stand it! Obviously cannot comment on the lube use as we didn't get that far but I can only imagine it is similar to most of durex's products, quite nice but the same as everything else.
The actual product is in a usable, practical container which, in it's phallic shape leaves little to the imagination as to its use. It is easy to open and also easy to close and ensure there are no seepages in the midst of getting some action. In terms of massage we haven't made use of it in that respect, but assume that it would be an average gel for that purpose.
The smell of it is quite pleasant and not too overpowering. As it is water based you can use it with condoms and it doesn't stick to your hands, which in practical terms is definetly a good feature.
It lubricates very well and is long lasting, as you don't really need to apply much to get the benefits. Unlike other products by Durex, it doesn't have the added ingredient that gives a burning sensation, which is a definite plus.
I have to agree with some of the poor reviews here. This is totally useless as a massage gel. It is very sticky and if you add too much to your partners back it just never disappears. You get a sticky mess, that needs rubbing and rubbing in. After the chore of getting a warm towel to wipe off, I did not wash my hands. After about an hour my hands were all peeling and flaky. So I had to moisturise them for a couple of days to get them back to normal.
I certainly would not recommend this product to anyone. Get a gentle moisturising cream instead. At least this will do your hands and partners body good too.
One last thing, the price is outrageous, how they get away with charging almost £4 for what equates to a small bottle of hair gel... in fact it wouldn't surprise me if it performed better on the top of my head.
If you are planning on an evening of massage and naughtiness with your loved one then you would probably have more fun with a sheet of sandpaper and a stick of UHU glue! This 'Massage Lubricant' will be the bane of your evening and probably longer if you do not have a warm, wet hand towel at the ready!
Apply too little and you will find your hands stuck to your partner, with no sign of your hands sensually gliding anywhere. Apply too much and your guess is as good as mine when it comes to deciding how to tackle the 'gloop' on your partner. Get it just right . . . and you have a delightful mixture of the above. Plus, when it comes to sensitive areas, when the 'gloop' goes sticky; irritation and soreness prevails . . . Nice!
If you want a product that ACTUALLY does what this should do, then I implore you to seek out "pjur - original - BODYGLIDE." It is hard to find, but definitely worth the search.
Enjoy! ;) x
Durex Play is a water based lubricant/massage oil so it is safe for condoms. As a lubricant this product is good. It does the job and it tastes quite nice in small quantities. If too much is applied however and you ummm taste i find it can be a bit nasty.
As a massage gel it is not very good. As it is water based it dissapears quite fast after only a few minutes of massaging. This means you either reapply more or move on to the products second use. This means the bottle is used up quite fast. I think it was bought at the time for about £6 which i thought was quite pricey.
Overall I wouldn't buy this again as a massage product. Instead i will just stick to oils for massaging, however as a lube i would buy again, though it is a bit pricey to use as just a lube.
I love the ranges that Durex has brought out and I have bought this item.
This 2 in 1 brings you a lube and massage lotion all in one.
The smell is lovely and if you happen to have a taste it's sweet.
With the Durex range you know its going to be safe to use with condoms.
This item is OK to use for a massage for the first minute and then it soaks into the skin and makes it hard for your hand movements to slide smoothly. So for me I would stick to the basic oil for a good massage, although it does feel nice when it is applied and the skin afterward's is left feeling soft.
This is great for using as a lube, it smells and taste nice so makes it more fun for your partner.
I bought mine from ann summers and it wasn't that bad price wise but you can get lube that is cheaper and oil separately but if your partner surprises you with this i am sure that what ever you think of it you will make it work.
If the one you love offers to give you a massage who are you to turn them down? Well... I certainly wasn't going to! Just one problem though we had no massage gel.
I wanted to go to a normal/average high street store such as Boots or Superdrug and buy some Lavander oil or something similar. However my boyfriend had other ideas! I was dragged - yes dragged into Ann Summers... Oh joy! If my boyfriend gets the chance to make me go bright red then he will!
Anyway back to matter in hand 'Massage Oil/Gel' we came across several in the shop with some rather 'adult' names! I turned into a prude and stamped my feet "there is no way I'm having that in my drawer" I said!
So eventually we found 'Play - 2 in 1 Massage Gel' The bottle (as you can see from the picture) is shaped to fit in certain regions! hmmm you'll have to excuse my writing in this particular review. I've not written one in this genre before and am finding the correct English difficult to establish! It's just lucky you can not see my face as I write this.
I, being the sensible one looked at the price and the size of the bottle! "Do you really think it is worth that much". My boyfriend obviously persuaded me because I'm now sat here telling you guys!
The 200ml bottle of Gel was £6.50. The bottle says you can also use it as a lubricant. So maybe you do get more for your money?
--- Verdict ---
So the massage? Well yes it was better with Gel and it was definitely smooth. Apparently very sweet tasting. I will say one thing I wasn't very impressed about - how quickly it dried up. It would not take long to go through the bottle. That price really should make the Massage Gel longer lasting.
Overall it was a good choice for a one off purchase. I wouldn't spend £6.50 on it again. We'll try something different probably a bit more conventional for me! The word 'Durex' on the bottle was a slight put off. I geniunley get back ache and just wanted a nice massage.
If you're going to buy it from Ann Summers you know it's going to be made for more than just a massage! As the website says "it's perfect for massages that lead to something more...".
Massage gel and personal lubricant in one (not a contraceptive and does not contain spermicide).
