Durex Play Tingle Lubricant
by chrisandmark
I had my first (and probably last!) weekend away without my partner a few weeks ago, despite having a wonderful time I really missed him - and from the naughty phone call he gave me on the Saturday night I'm positive the feeling was mutual. I actually couldn't wait to get home, and after mum offered to keep the kids for the night to ... allow me to unpack (a hell of a euphemism all things considered...) I decided to pop into Boots and see if I could pick up something a little 'interesting' for when I got home. Unfortunately Boots' range of sexy stuff was as poor as I had imagined it to be, so I grabbed a few Durex branded items and heading off to the checkout - and then home.
Tingle from the Durex Play range is a lubricant with a supposed added 'wow' factor, claiming to chill your bits to the point where they'll become uber-sensitive with the delicious tingle usually found only when purchasing gels from Ann Summers and the like at a vastly inflated cost. Durex have cleverly given the bottle an extreme phallic appearance with a curved close fitting lid; the design has changed somewhat since Dooyoo added their piccie and it's now much more fun looking, with brighter colours and generally a more aesthetically pleasing design. It still has the pump top (which doesn't work) but the rest of the bottle looks completely different.
You can use it two ways; to combat vaginal or anal dryness before and during sex, or as a sensation enhancer by applying to your sensitive bits. I don't suffer with vaginal dryness, and the anus is an exit not an entrance in my opinion, so Tingle was bought specifically with high expectations of getting the most from my partners touch on my body - and obviously for him to also experience the 'tingle'. After realising the pump wasn't going to dispense as much as a single drop into my hand I twisted the bottle apart completely to get to the gel - and was instantly stopped dead in my tracks by the distinct lack of any smell coming from the bottle. Anything that promises to make me tingle should smell of menthol or some other tingle-inducing cold aroma, this just smells like bog standard lube - admittedly Durex do say on the back of the bottle that this doesn't contain menthol, but I still expected some sort of cooling minty fragrance if only for the placebo effect.
As a lube it's great. The gel is smooth and wet, totally non-sticky with a gorgeously slippery feeling when applied to the skin. I'd already rubbed it onto my partner's penis when we had penetrative sex for the first time that day and could feel the extra smoothness from the moment he entered me, it felt nice enough but personally I prefer the initial feeling of tightness when we first start to have sex and Tingle is so wet that this sensation was lost. It reduces the feeling of friction which is a huge downside for me, although Mark enjoyed the very wet feeling and this unfortunately sped the process up slightly for him - leaving me orgasm-less and vowing not to use the product in this way again.
Afterwards, when we were ready to go again (not that we ever really stopped!), I grabbed the bottle of Tingle again and experimented with trying it out on different parts of my body. Yes, my body. Mark had had the best of the gel so far and I was determined to catch up as it were. The obvious points of application are the nipples and the clitoris, both (well all three if you count both nipples) of which convinced me that Tingle is an absolute waste of money as it did exactly nothing - oh, my nipples went hard but it was a February afternoon and very cold, if I'd rubbed shampoo into my nipples in that chill they'd have gone hard! The lube aspect adds to the experience of clitoral masturbation as the slippery and very wet feeling is absolutely luscious, unfortunately to bring me to climax meant the same level of finger action quite simply because there's no added tingle produced by the gel to enhance the feeling. Likewise Mark said he couldn't feel anything different when I gave him a hand job compared to if I'd used our usual oil.
Durex Tingle is water based so can be used safely with condoms, it's not a spermicide however so if you're a condom user you need to take the same amount of care as ever. As I've already mentioned it's free from menthol, frankly it needs some, and is suitable for vaginal, anal and oral sex - it tastes icky though so I certainly wouldn't recommend applying prior to a blow job! It washes off easily with plain water and doesn't stain fabric at all, it doesn't really dry on the skin so if you're planning to use it I'd suggest keeping a packet of baby wipes or similar next to the bed so you can dry yourself off a little before sleeping. You can't overdose on Tingle so feel free to use as much as you need/want, although slightly worryingly Durex proclaim that this product can slow down sperm so advise you to see your doctor before use if you are trying to conceive. If irritation occurs yo're advised to discontinue use, which is perfectly obvious to me as who wants an irritated fanny?!
I'm torn as to whether I recommend this, but in fairness I probably should despite my disappointing experience with it. It's sold as a lubricant and in this respect it works brilliantly, the silky smooth wetness produced would ease the discomfort of being dry 'down there' during sex and it's long enough lasting that I doubt anyone would need to pull out and reapply during the actual act. I suspect it would make anal sex a damned sight more comfortable for occasional partakers (ie. those who don't see the need for owning a butt plug) as this sex is obviously going to be a dryer experience - as well as reducing the friction to a level where you don't risk damaging your condom, which I believe is a common worry if you enjoy anal.
A 50ml bottle of Durex Tingle costs £1.99, which is on a par with most lubes - the relatively low price makes me think that even Durex don't believe their own hype about the tingle aspect as they're a horribly greedy company and I suspect that if they actually thought it worked as a sensation enhancer they'd have added a couple of quid to the price! Mind you, in their defense they've created a bottle which can be used as an impromptu dildo so all is not lost... Read the complete review |

Durex Pleasuremax Condoms
by thehonesttruth
I have rather a collection of condoms at home - I often pick them up from stands at Gay Pride events in the summer, and find that it's quite fun having a little bit of a lucky dip selection available. With that said, for the most part, a condom is just a condom. Sure, they may occasionally come in jazzy novelty packaging (the EXS for ... example) but really, so long as they wrap up a gentlemans sausage securely and keep his little swimmers safely contained, I'm happy.
My boyfriend, however, feels differently. He quite often finds some condoms hard to roll on, or a little snug at the base. However, there is one variety of condom we've used that has impressed him (and myself) enough to become a regular purchase, so much so that the lucky dip pot is now just for when we've run out of the usual. That condom, ladies and gents, is the Durex Pleasuremax.
So what makes these different from any other condom? Well, they have ribs and dimples all over them, and according to the packet, an 'extra bulbous shape'. The dimples are all over the condom, whilst the ribs are distributed towards the bottom of the shaft, designed to gently stimulate the clitoris. However, before we get to whether that works, we need to get the thing on.
And this is where is starts to impress - this condom unrolls like a dream, but not only that, the latex seems more flexible and stretchy, allowing this to fit snugly round the base of my partners pork sword without making it feel constricted. Once on, it looks very neutral - no silly colours here, just a normal fleshy looking penis.
Giving it a little stroke, it's easy to feel the little dents and ridges along the condom, and certainly during those first gentle moments into intercourse I can feel them as he enters and withdraws. However, after a certain point, I did stop noticing the textures - possibly as a result of natural excitement smoothing the way. Removing and tying up was easy with this condom, and I was happy that after I removed and responsibly disposed of this, there wasn't any lingering smell of rubber on my hands.
They say you do get what you pay for, and Durex Pleasuremax condoms are at the pricier end of the market, with a 12 pack costing around a tenner in most supermarkets and chemists. I always shop online for condoms personally, as they are often much cheaper, and a box of these picked up from Amazon currently costs £4.74 for 12, including delivery, or you can purchase 24 for £8.99 including delivery from Ebay.
Overall, my boyfriend and I highly recommend these - they fit him comfortably and safely, and if he's happy, I'm happy too. 5 stars. Read the complete review |

Durex Extra Safe Condoms
by Whizz11
At the moment I am in the middle of changing contraception. I had my second baby just over a year ago now and my periods have just returned and so, not wanting another baby right now, and probably not ever, I need to get my birth control sorted out. I don't want to be on the pill forever and once we make that decision to not have any ... more kids I think my husband is going to have the snip but in the meantime we have decided to take some extra protection when having sex and so we have been using Durex Extra Safe condoms.
According to an article I read, "Durex condoms are the most popular brand of condoms in the UK. The name, which the London Rubber Company trademarked in 1929, is a abbreviation of "Durability, Reliability, and Excellence."Durex condoms represent around one quarter of the global market for prophylactic sheaths, manufacturing around one billion units per year in 17 factories worldwide."
So, what exactly is a condom? A condom is a barrier device commonly used during sexual intercourse to reduce the probability of pregnancy and spreading sexually transmitted diseases. It is put on a man's erect penis and physically blocks ejaculated semen from entering the body of a sexual partner.
The Durex extra safe condoms are thicker and extra lubricated to provide extra reassurance against the risk of unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
All Durex easy-on condoms are shaped to be easier to put on and to provide a better fit and feel during lovemaking. The condoms are all individually wrapped in a little foil packet so they stay safe and protected when you come to use them. The foil packets are easy to split open although be careful you don't damage to condom inside. The condom is rolled up in a round disc shape and all you need to do it place it over the penis and then roll down slowly.
My husband reports a nice fit with these condoms and let me tell you, there is definitely lots of feeling and sensation there, so no need to worry about that. We have never had a problem with these condoms ripping or anything like that and for us at the moment they are a great protection. Read the complete review |
