Halo Sanitary Towels
Advantages: good pads, no leaks
Disadvantages: Tesco, more expensive than other brands
I am a Bzzz agent which means that I get to try new products when they come out. One of the latest products was the Halo range of sanitary protection. There is towels, tampons and pantyliners in the range but I only used the towels having vouchers to buy 3 packets really cheaply.
The normal selling price for these towels is £1.50 for between 10 and 16 pads depending on the absorbancy level. I used the super with wings, the night time ones not being available in my local store. The selling price includes a 15p donation to the Halo Foundation, a charity set up by Tesco with all the proceeds going to women's health projects in the UK. Call me cynical but I don't trust Tesco for a single second as a caring and sharing brand and I'm sure there is some tax dodge or scheme in there somewhere.
The pads themselves are pretty good. Once you get past all of the pink packaging you are met by a really thin towel which is nice and long so covers your pants nicely with no leaks from the back of the towel as can sometimes happen with shorter pads. The pads do have a good absorbency level and I never had any kind of leaks during the day but when I tried to use one overnight it did leak significantly. The adhesive is impressively strong on the pads too and they stayed put with no curling of the edges but were still easy to remove with a quick tug.
While the Halo towels were good, it is unlikely I will buy them on a regular basis simply because I do not trust Tesco, remember £1.35 goes to Tesco and only 15p to charity. I always buy whatever branded towel is on offer and generally pay no more than £1 for Bodyform or Always from either Asda or my local chemist and the Halo towels perform the same way as those brands so are not worth paying an extra 50p for.
Summary: good enough sanitary towels
