Advantages: Easy to get hold of
Disadvantages: Possible side effects
The Morning After Pill is used when 'accidents' happen and you want to avoid becoming pregnant. I have had to use this once (I'm sure most girls have had to). I had to use it before it was available over the counter, and as I needed it on a Sunday morning, I resorted going to the local hospital. I know this wasn't the best solution, but as soon as our 'accident' happened, I wanted to take it asap as it is less effective the more time you leave it (it can only be taken up to 72 hours after). The doctor was great, no question asked, he just told me how to take it. It involves swallowing 2 pills, one 12 hours after the first. I was pointed out to the possible side effects, but thought nothing of it. However, I think I was unlucky because after the second pill I suffered from horrible stomach cramps that lasted for about 2 hours. But like I said, I think I was unlucky because side effects are rare.
Overall, it is an effective pill, but only as a last resort, and certainly not one to rely on. I wouldn't like to go through it again.
Summary: Works well, but only as a last resort
