Advantages: The tins are lovely and feminine

Disadvantages: Inside the tin, it's really just tampons

There is one time of the month guaranteed to make me hormonal, crabby, bloated, tired, and stressed - my period. Lets face it, bleeding from your lady bits for 5 or 6 days is not a pleasant experience, and the accompanying period pains and bloatedness really don't help either . For those few days, and the days of hormonal irritation leading up to them, the last thing I feel is girly or elegant.

Now, tampon wise, I'm not really that fussed - after all, it is basically some squashed together cotton wool designed to be bled on . Nothing remotely appealing about that, and if I'm only going to bleed all over it anyway, I might as well go for the cheapest on offer . And I did - until I saw Moxie tampons sitting on a shelf in Superdrug .

The box stood out right away - Striped in various shades of pink, with Moxie on the front in an elegant font, and a little black ribbon. Opening up the box were two small but perfectly formed metal tins, decorated in the same fashion as the box, with smart black lids. Each tin holds 8 non-applicator tampons, individually wrapped. I purchased regular flow tampons, but they are available in super and super-plus for heavier flow .

The clear plastic wrapper twists off easily, and these tampon have a very soft smooth exterior and nice long strings. Inserting them is easy, perhaps a little easier than my normal brand due to the smoothness of the coating, and they felt comfortable to wear . The tampons come with the usual instruction leaflet with warning about hygiene and TSS.

They were just as absorbant as the normal tampons I use, and I definitely had no problems with them . And at 1.99 for 16, they aren't really much more expensive than other tampon brands . The tins are cute, and re-usable - and you definitely wouldn't look at them and go 'Oooh, tampons!'

I store hair bobbles in one tin, and ordinary tampons in another in my bag, so they are quite useful, and they look pretty sitting on a shalf .

While I do think these tampons are great, I don't think I would neccessarily buy them again . I have the pretty tins now, which, lets face it, is the only reason I bought them , I've gone bag to buying bog standard tampons and just putting them into the pretty tin in my bag. It does add a tiny touch of femininity to an otherwise grim time of the month, but other than the tin, there is no real stand out factor .

That said, I'd recommend any tampon user goes and buys a pack - just one, for the pretty little storage tin!

Summary: Buy once, just to get the tin, then revert to your normal brand .

I really have to start reading titles before clicking on reviews! I'm sure this is great, I hope you understand why I've rushed out without rating. Cheers.
