Advantages: eco friendly, healthier
Disadvantages: price
Since I am somewhat sensitive in the "shall not mention it aloud" area I do what I can to keep a natural balance down under. I can't believe that I only recently found out about panty liners that are made from organic cotton (well mostly). I always thought that there is no bigger difference between panty liners and that your usual commercial (plastic) brands are as good as any other (ah the ignorance).
These were the first of cotton pads I tried and here is the experience:
"Shocked by price"
Well first thing a normal consumer noticed is the price and do not be fooled, these are way more expensive than the regular ones, especially compared to various "economy packs" etc. (from a students point of view). In my local store, where they are available their price is about twice the price the other commercial pads are. But still this is affordable. I also noticed that the price in on-line stores is a bit more inexpensive.
"Very natural looking"
The package is from cardboard so I instantly got a good feel about them, eco friendly packaging compared to plastic sheets you get with many other brands is a win for me. It has a very "clean", aesthetic look to it. . Love it!
"The feel and the wear"
The pads are easier on the skin down under compared to "plastic" pads I used in the past, I personally could feel the difference in "ventilation", felt more cleaner using them. They are a bit hard though and I can't exactly say that I did not feel them while using them, the plastic brands were better in this viewpoint for me personally - I should mention though that I am a "tiny" person and that I only felt "hardness" of the pads on the edges so I might assume that this would not bother "normal" women.
Compared to other pads these might be a bit less absorbent so I would advise extra care in the beginning (to get used to their capacity :), they can also get slightly torn on the surface but I did not notice this would in anyway effect their "function".
Sticking them to the panties at first seems as very unreliable (glue seems weak) but they stick quite well. Had no problems there.
"Final verdict"
I like the cotton pads and these are good but I did find better organic cotton pads for myself to be honest (but they are a "local" brand). But if my local store runs out of my favourite these are certainly nr.2 and are not in any view (except for being a bit harder than the other ones).
I would certainly advise women to buy these since the difference from these and plastic ones (and some other organic cotton brands) is immense, after starting to use these (and I have been using Natracare for quite a while before switching to another brand) I had less problems down under and the overall feel there improved (not that it was that bad before but there is a difference)
Summary: Organic cotton pads
