Advantages: Very easy to use
Disadvantages: Pricey
Now I'm not usually in the habit of discussing things of a *personal* nature, but I really like this product and none of you know me so I'm throwing caution, along with my dignity to the wind!
Normally I don't buy Tampax as I find the supermarket brands work just as well. I came across these thanks to a well known money saving site. As part of a big advertising campaign, Tampax were offering free samples to people who fit a certain criteria. The image they are looking for is young women who have lots of friends that are easily swayed! So I was successful (obviously!) and just had to wait for my free samples to arrive.
As luck would have it a few days after they turned up I had cause to use them, I was given 11 boxes each with 3 tampons in. The packaging on box is very similar to the previous packaging, but the wrapper on the tampons themselves have been changed. Previously they were quite tight and wrapped in paper. Now the wrapper is much looser and made from an almost thin plasticy material. They are also easier to open as there are two flaps to pull.
The applicator has also been changed. It's now very thin and made out of plastic. I found it much more comfortable to use than the previous cardboard applicator. I used to find that the cardboard could scratch, for want of a better word, but the plastic applicator was very smooth to use. I've tried doing some research to find out if the applicator is environmentally friendly, but I can't seem to find any information
The tampon did seem to be smaller to fit in the smaller size applicator and I was expecting to have to change more often, but I was pleasantly surprised. It held the same amount of fluid as before as it expanded width ways to fit the shape of my body.
In my opinion these would be ideal as as first tampon as they are very easy to use and get used to, unlike other applicator tampons that I've tried.
The one drawback that I found was the price. I went to purchase some more at Tesco and found that they are £2.99 for 20 compared to £1.28 for 30 of Tesco own brand meant that I didn't end up buying them. They were good, but not that good! The price is the only reason I've marked the stars down.
Summary: Great tampon, poor value
