Advantages: well-known brand, with good advice on the leaflet

I am not overly impressed with Tampax. I find the applicator a little difficult to handle: the material it's made of seems to 'stick' against itself sometimes, often halfway through use - which is a horrible situation to find yourself in. Also, I've found that if the tampons have been hanging around for a while (for example, if you buy in bulk when there's a special offer on), the applicators go a bit 'limp' and again the usability of them disintegrates. On top of that, I think the tampon itself is very slightly too long, and is not always that comfortable to use. Finally, you need to be able to carry a tampon around with you in your handbag for those unfortunate occasions when you're caught by surprise, but in my experience the paper packaging just does not survive being in a handbag for any length of time at all. It was this factor that eventually led me to change brands - I was so fed up of having to try and use a dog-eared, limp tampon when I was out and about. I now buy my tampons abroad: they are much better and much cheaper.

Summary: I think these sell by reputation more than my reliability
