Advantages: Cheap, smell nice.

Disadvantages: My guinea pigs hated them!

Anyone who has read a few of my reviews will know that I have 3 guinea pigs who I'll admit, are quite spoiled little fellows indeed! It was before Christmas and I was looking around Pets at Home for their presents and I came across these Rotastak treats that they hadn't tried before. Initially I thought that they were for hamsters what with Rotastak being famous for its hamster palaces and such but the packet went on to tell me that these yoghurt drops were suitable for all small pets. Costing only around 79p a packet I decided to give them a go.

The drops come in a little red metallic bag and you get 50g of the product. On the back is all the usual information such as best before date; batch number and a little note that says not to feed your pet more than 5 drops a day as they are intended as a treat and should not be fed in large quantities.

The treats themselves are small, creamy coloured buttons with a sweet smell to them. They look very much like white chocolate buttons only a lot smaller. I must say that the smell is quite appetizing, but alas they are pet treats and not intended for human consumption! The texture of the drops isn't crumbly or grainy at all though they can be snapped in to even smaller pieces if needed quite easily.

I gave my boys a treat and coaxed them to take it, unfortunately after one sniff they turned up their noses and went back to chomping on their hay. I decided to persevere but all 3 of them would not so much as take a nibble. Needless to say I won't be buying any more of these treats but at 79p a bag it was worth a shot. I expect these treats will probably be a lot more popular with hamsters or rats, perhaps not just for guinea pigs!
