Advantages: Price, Low in Protein & Fat
Disadvantages: smell
My Whippet crossed Jack Russell developed a food allergy to fat and ?wheat at the age of five months that made her hyperactive. Having tried various other foods we nearly lost her at the age of two due to vomiting & diarrohoea. My vets nurse suggested after attending a confrence trying her on Chappie, it saved her life. She was fed only on Chappie meat without biscuit for the next thirteen years and although for the last three years of her life I had to reduce the quanilty of Chappie & add potato due to kidney damage I am convinced she would not have survived to the age of fifthteen years ten months without Chappie. I can not praise it high enough both cost & nutrition wise the one disadvantag is the smeel but I consider that a small price to pay for saving my dogs life.
Summary: Low Protein and fat content and Price

- 18/08/05 I can relate to this: we had a collie cross that was initially fed on more expensive canned dog food, from the premium section. This proved too rich. Chappie was a great fall back, and though I felt I wasn't benefitting our dog at first (feeling a cheapskate for being much less expensive food), it was certainly a benefit to our dog. Agree about the smell too....not pleasant! |

- 28/07/05 Welcome to dooyoo. I agree heartily and vets always recommended this diet. Some years ago I had a very elderly dog who developed crystals in the urine and with heart disease could not have been operated on should they turn to stones. My little friend would not eat the veterinary diet so I gave him Chappie (with the vet's knowledge) because of its cereal content before meat. Three months later his urine was clear, the vet confirmed I had been right and my dog lived for another couple of happy years.Today my jack russell terrier is now nearly 17 years old and guess what I keep in the cupboard to supplement her kibble? :-) |

- 24/07/05 As the guide responsible for new members, I'd like to welcome you to Dooyoo. A few tips to get you started on the site: Although there is no limit on the amount of reviews you can post, it is better to post no more than three a day, that way you should find that you get more reads. Besides, only three are visible at any one time on your profile page. If you read and rate around the site you'll soon find out what should be included in a review plus the other members will know that you are there and it should result in them reading reviews that you post.A good idea is to write your reviews as though you are writing for someone who has never heard of the product, that way you cover everything. Another tip is to write your review in Microsoft Word and run a spellchecker before posting onto the site. If you nominate a review for a crown, please DON'T state the fact in the comment thread...it looks tacky and is frowned upon. You can ask any of the guides for help with any aspect of the site - they will be only to happy to help - and a list of all the guides can be found here: * http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/c ommunity/_page/advice_gui des/ Lastly you can sign up for your own guest book at: * http://www.crosswordcheat s.com/tooyoo/ This is where you can chat with other Dooyoo members. Above all I hope you enjoy it here and have fun. PS: If you need any help or advice about how to get the best out of the site, just click on my username. This will take you to my profile where you will find various ways of contacting me. Liz :) |
