      Not for my two!

Anyone who regulary reads my reviews will know I own a Syrian hamster called Colin. Doting on him the way I do, a couple of weeks back when I went into pets at home to grab a few treats for him.....well I picked up another one now called Trevor to add to my collection! He was so beautiful and I already had everything I needed for him to move in with us and so along with a little box of hamster to bring home I treated them to a few items to nibble on and this was one of those items. Me, I'm rather fussy as to what to feed my boys with. Colin is a greedy little so and so and constantly has the trots to which recently got me taking him to the vets and him emptying my purse for me so recently I have overhauled his diet big time and he has limited treats and now he really is back on fine form. I didn't want Trevor to suffer the same and get greedy and like Colin in the way of being off colour so often and these seemed the sensible choice for us to try! The Packaging: The mix comes in a hanging purple, cream and see through bag (so you can see the mix through it) and on the front of the bag we are told that it is Pets At Home Fruity Biscuit Mix 'Suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, mice and rats' and there is a photograph of a rabbit, a hamster and a guinea pig on the front and we are also told that it is enriched with Vitamins and that the size of the bag is 100g (and the only size I have seen this available to purchase in by the way). On the back of the bag other information listed includes being told a bit about the biscuit mix and a general feeding guide is given along with being given a nutritional analysis, the best before date is clearly stated and contact details for Pets At Home are listed. Nice enough, informative, easy to open bag this is though you can't reseal it which is a pain! A Bit About The Product According To the Information Given On The Back Of The Bag: Our fruity biscuit mix is a great tasting treat or reward for small animals. Made with tasty fruit flavours, our mix provides your pet with a variety of crunchy shapes they will love to nibble on. The Mix Itself: What yout get is a smallish bag crammed with what smells and looks like really small dog biscuits. You get some yellow banana shapes, round green apples, purple bunches of grapes and what appears to me a red flower however I assume that too is meant to be a a fruity shape, I just cn't work out which one lol. They are really small, great for small pets to hold and you these are meant to be given as a treat so you simply need to use your common sense as no ideas on how much to give the pet is given on the bag. So they look nice enough, are not powdery and have a hard and slightly rough texture to them. Not only are these packed with essential vitamins and minerals, because of the texture they are also good for pets teeth too. However my too hate this mix and I do mean hate. I did think when Colin didn't try it that Trevor (being the opposite of Colin in almost every single way) would get stuck into it. Trevor did have a nibble but I could tell when he buried the lot he was less than impressed especially when he pooed all over them. For us these have been a real waste of my pennies really. I can't get them interested in these at all and being made with cereal I really wanted to include these in their diet but my pair have other ideas about that! Not for us, worth a go at a pound a bag though if your interested in purchasing something like this as even as my two don't like it, it looks colourful and of decent quality! Only available in Pets At Home stores.
