... regard Pet Plan as one of the best pet insurance companies around. They are the original pet insurance company. My mothers dog had a probem with her liver for the last few years of her life and thanks to pet plan she lived those years receiving the best veterinary care available. Pet Plan ... livery yard was burgled recently and about 15 of us lost tack. Everyone s insurer paid out except mine - Petplan. They wouldn t pay anything - a technical detail in the small print about the type of lock. No other insurers raised problems or even sent out an assessor. Since then I have heard numerous accounts from people about problems claiming from Petplan. The dog kennels I use has heard many more. A friend with a sick horse had to threaten them with solicitors to get her money. Unfortunately nobody tells you these things until you have a problem too. Pet Plan ... have had a PetPlan policy for our labrador for two years. For her they have been an absolute life saver. We took out our policy in March 2006. Our lab Harriet was 7 and we felt we should get her some cover as she was getting older. We were advised by a vet that we should waste no time in getting her insured as it is almost impossible to start a new policy on a dog once they hit 8yrs. The vet also advised us that the only insurance company they can deal with direct is PetPlan (i can t remember why now, but it was explained to us). All this was good advice - Two months after taking out a policy, Harry started limping on a regular basis, following her walks. A trip to t...
