Newest Review: ... secondly because two of them contracted respiratory tract infections. Both times I estimate we spent about 4 minutes with the vet, yet both times the bill came to £15 + medicine! This works out at around £180 per hour! Ok, so veterinary training take about 7 years, so you'd expect vets to be relatively high earners, and there are overheads and other staff to pay, but £15 for 4 minutes seems very unreasonable if you are paying simply to have him/her tell you that your beloved animal has a cold or conjunctivitis! In South Africa it's apparently possible to buy animal medicines at a pharmacy...why not here? This week one of our pigs... more

I keep guinea pigs and gerbils rather than larger animals, but they're still our family pets and, especially the piggies, much loved and cared for. I have had to see a vet twice with the guinea pigs, and have thankfully just avoided another visit this week by diagnosing and treating one of them myself.... Thankfully both times our pigs had to see a vet the cost was covered by the store we'd bought them from (Petsmart - wonder if this opinion should really rather be about them?!)firstly because she had an eye infection which Petsmart said was cured but wasn't, and secondly because two of them contracted respiratory tract infections. I think the cost of vet is just to much.Just took my cat in to have her teeth cleaned,nearly died of shock when they told us it was going to be over a £100.It was £50 just for a blood test.In the end it cost us £196 and then we have had to take her back.Which is £17 a time the price of vets is rising,I love my cats but to just have her teeth clean it is a lot.My other cat needs his teeth doing AS WELL I have started to save up now.I hope it dose not cost as much when I take him.There should be something to stop vets charging so much,it does not cost me that much to have my teeth cleaned.If the cost keeps on going up we will have to start taking out loans to afford ...  Read the complete review
