Advantages: Saves you paying large vet bills

Disadvantages: Can't claim for one off treatment that are less than the xs

I regard Pet Plan as one of the best pet insurance companies around. They are the original pet insurance company. My mothers dog had a probem with her liver for the last few years of her life and thanks to pet plan she lived those years receiving the best veterinary care available. An excess was payable every year (as with any insurance) but everything else was covered by pet plan - no questions asked. I know people who have cover with other insurance companies and heard some real horror stories. If you or your vet need assurance that pet plan will cover your pet for a particular illness then before starting treatment you can fill in a pre-authorisation form and send it to them (you can fax it for quickness) their experts will assess your pets needs and let you know if they will pay. Obviously they dont cover for any illness which they believe started before cover was taken out-but if you take out the policy with guidance from your vet you should have no problems. I would not hesitate to recommend Pet Plan as an essential to all pet owners. Beware of other insurance companies only giving your pet cover for 12 months. A lot of these companies are very sneaky with that sort of thing.

Summary: Take the advice of your vet before taking out any pet insurance

Doughnut's got this - costs a ruddy fortune! It's not only for her medical expenses but also public liability reasons (just in case)! Better to be safe than sorry even if it means we can't afford to eat.

I think this is a great idea, i have pet plan, and yes it saves you a fortune, when you need x-rays and ops.
