Advantages: various options available

Disadvantages: some vets you will have to pay upfront & then claim

Pet Plan I wouldnot use any one else. both my dogs are insured with Petpaln at a cost of £48.97 per month, this may sound a lot but read on and you will understan why it to me is worth every penny!. After having our 2nd labrador a couple of months I noticed she was sitting funny, so booked her in the vets just to be safe. Our vets had a look and booked her in the following day for x rays. The x rays showed that out little baby has cainine hip dysplasia, her hips & sockets had not formed properly and here hip socket was no where near her hip ! She had to go to a specilist was on medication for pain and attended hydrotheraphy for weeks. We had to wait until she was a bit closer to a year old before she could have a hip replacement. All in all to date just over £8,000 we have claimed. Pet plan where fast in sending claim forms staff where very helpfull on the phone and her pain relief medication is covered for life as is her ongoing condition. I must add at this point that we have takenout the top insurance for our dog so the other policies which they do will differ..
We were given 6 weeks frr insurance when we purchased our dog, the breeder reg our details to enable us to recieve the free weeks. Pet plan then contacted us with a letter stating when the 6 weeks was up. We simply called up pet plan andswered a few basic question like type of dog wether she was a pedigree or not DOB etc then very clearly went through options available. Set up a DD and the policy arrived a week later.
when claiming again it was a simple form which needed to be filled in our vet does not provide direct payments with pet plan so we had to pay the bill and then send the reciept off to petplan and within 6 days we recieved a cheque. This si down to each individual vets though as others will deal with petplan diect so you have no need to part with any money. Claim forms can be requested over the phone but you can also downloan them on line.
If it wasnt for pet plan now as our dog is nearly 3 she would have had to be put to sleep as would have ended up a cripple and in terrible pain

Summary: would not be without it

I am really pleased with Petplan-my bill for Polycystic Kidney disease in my dear cat Teddy came to over £4000. It was such a relief to have their cover.

Glad she's covered! It would be really useful to know things like how easy it was to set the plan up, how bills are settled and so on. Helps people understand the product.
