Disadvantages: seem to make changes and not inform you

I have just received my annual renewal notice for my dogs insurance and was astounded to find that on Pet plans Supreme dog policy they have now changed the Veterinary Fees Maximum Benefit from "Unlimited" to £12,000 per year. Last year my dog received specialist treatment for a cancerous growth and the bills totalled approx £4.000. My concern is, if that happened again and then something else occurred i.e. he was involved in an accident and required major surgery which could easily cost in the region of £6,000 we would then have £2,000 cover for the rest of that year.
I chose the pet plan supreme dog policy because it gave you peace of mind knowing that whatever happened I only had to pay the excess and everything else would be covered by insurance. I am now in the position that if my dog is taken ill or has a medical emergency I will have to consult the calender and pray that he doesn't have more than 1 problem per year. Naturally, Pet plan have not made their renewal any cheaper, no I have to find another £49 this year for less cover.
I also resent that I was not given any notice about this change and when I contacted customer services, it was explained that Pet Plan had made this decision because some owners and vets were putting animals through unnecessary procedures!!!!!!!!!!! I think this explanation is rubbish, would someone who loves their animal enough pay the high premiums and then want to put them through any unnecessary procedures.
I would have recommended Pet Plan to anyone prior to this and I am now thinking that if I have another pet in the future I will look elsewhere.
