... insert a sticky paper disk. The small amount of heat generated by the bulb is enough to keep the disk sticky and it also contains a faint scent which fleas can’t resist. Therefore they are attracted not only by the light and warmth, but also by the scent – which, I might add, is not apparent to human noses! The trap should be sited in a room that is frequented by the pets and, as it should always be switched on, it’s a good idea to have it somewhere out of sight. It does tend to attract attention which means you ...more

I hate fleas. Most things I can tolerate – fleas I cannot. This is where I have had problems as, on occasion; my animals have reacted badly to flea treatments. I have tried all manner of removal – not that I have had serious problems – well, that is, I hadn’t until about three or four years ago. There was a veritable plague of fleas. Everywhere you went; people were complaining that nothing would shift them. It was blamed on a combination of mild winters and central heating. Everyone was asking or giving advice on the removal. I read about one woman, who was combing them from her pets, putting them into a jar and releasing them into the local park – no, ...  Read the complete review

Monty was suffering again as he's a breeding ground for fleas. Despite his continual grooming there comes a time when the fleas take control, causing him to scratch all the time and I have to take appropriate action. To my mind the best but most expensive solution is always an injection the vets do which sterilises the fleas. As a result of the cost this is rarely an affordable solution for me. I have two cats, Monty and Chloe. Chloe has a great liking for extra strong garlic sausage, so when she is suffering from a flea infestation I feed her the garlic sausage freely and the aroma this sends from her pores acts as a perfect repellant so she rarely ...  Read the complete review

Years ago I had an elderly, frail cat who was infested with fleas. At that time, the weapon of choice was Nuvan Top a spray. Reluctant to use this because I had a baby and a toddler I started a combing and vacuuming regime. Having done a bit of research I figured that if all the animals were combed every day and every carpet was vacuumed thoroughly every other day I'd have it under control. And I did, sort of. It tooks hours with five animals and every room capeted but it worked within weeks. Gradually we stopped getting bitten and I'd be combing out the odd flea rather than a dozen. Then we went on holiday. When we came back the house was ...  Read the complete review

What has it come to, writing opinions about flea collars! The trouble is I have a sneaking suspicion that Ciao don’t even pay in this category. Still I can count on good old Dooyoo to pay me for my genius (!), so at least it wont be a pointless exercise, other than the warm glow of satisfaction that comes from writing and informing my fellow man, of course..... Now I normally don’t give a hoot about flea collars and I suspect the majority of the population don’t have any particular thoughts on the subject. However when the cat has fleas and we are being bitten to buggery by the vicious little swines my thoughts turn to flea control, ...  Read the complete review

Hartz rid flea control home spray It is not an unusual phenomenon for cats for get fleas from time to time, but think about where you cat sleeps in your house, and remember that fleas, if present in the cat they will inevitably transfer to your soft furnishings too! A very unpleasant thought indeed, one that makes me itch just thinking about it! There are a number of flea killing products available on the market from drops placed in the food to sprays and drops placed on the next. It is all very well and good to regularly de-flea your cat, but what about your home? Remember fleas lay eggs, those eggs hatch out and the little flea will be hungry for ...  Read the complete review
