Advantages: Represents great value for money

Disadvantages: Contains sugars and EC coloured additives

My husband and I generally shop on line at Tesco's, but now and again we will venture out to the other supermarkets just for a change. This week we tried Asda, we used to shop at Asda on a regular basis before we moved three years ago to our present address but, when we moved found that they would not deliver to our area and so changed to Tesco.

Asda is a nice store to shop in, the staff are always friendly and helpful and plentiful, and on the whole their products are abit cheaper. Their own brand products are very good and have always stood up to the test against other higher priced branded products. One such item that does this well is the Asda own brand complete Tiger dried cat food.

The packaging is bright and colourful, pink to be precise and displays a very cute kitten lying playfully on the front of the box next to a blue cat dish with the brand name Tiger on it. The variety is Salmon, Tuna and Shrimp and is designed for adult cats. It is a complete dry food and there fore means no other food is required. The nuts themselves are small, beige in colour and are nicely shaped and give off quite a fishy aroma which the cats in our house found quite pleasant!

The Tiger range comes in four different varieties;

Tiger complete with chicken, Turkey & Milk (for adults)
Tiger complete with Salmon, Tuna & Shrimp (for adults)
Tiger complete with Chicken & Turkey (for adults)
Tiger complete with Duck, Rabbit & Vegetable ( for adults)
Tiger kitten complete with Chicken, Turkey & Milk

How does it compare with other known branded complete cat foods?

Go **t offer several varities of complete dry food and are a well known brand. Typically they are more expensive with a small box (375g) averaging on price from £0.72 pence up to a 4kg bag at £8.09 This is quite alot more than the Asda own Tiger brand. Prices start at £0.39 for 375g, £0.81 for 950g, up to £3.27 for 4kg. With prices ever increasing it pays to shop around and get value for money. I think the prices speak for themselves.

Our two cats Snowy and Trinity were pleased with their new offering and ate it without any complaints what so ever. Cats are known for being a little fussy but we had no such problems here.

Ingredient wise, it contains;

Cereals, derivatives of vegetables, meat and animal derivatives, oils and fats, minerals, yeasts, fish and fish derivatives, (min 4% in the salmon, shrimp and tuna nuggets) mollucs and crustaceans. Also, EC coloured additives and sugars, although I hardly see the need for this but it does seem to appear in nearly all complete dry foods.

The box suggests that an adult cat on average should be fed at least 70g of complete dried food per day.

Tiger complete also contains a special anti-hairball formulation and cleverly designed shaped nuggets that enable the cats teeth to stay cleaner and healthier for longer.

The box we bought was 950g and cost just £0.81 Going on previous uses it would last on average two weeks which is exceptional value for money.

When it comes down to it the nuggets look quite appetising, smell quite pleasant and represent great value for money and further more our cats love them!! Why pay more when at the end of the day Asda's own Tiger brand will sufficiently do the job as well as a higher branded dry complete cat food?

It pays to shop a round.

Thanks for reading.

Summary: A great value complete dry cat food

My cat will eat this at a push, but prefers Whiskas or Go-Cat!
