Advantages: Safety for you and your dog, small, good value for money
Disadvantages: On/off switch is quite small and stiff
At Christmas time our dog Oscar is never left out and he always receives some Christmas presents. This year along with a cuddly toy and a squeaky ball we also decided to get him a "B'Seen Night Light." Which is one of those practical presents that Oscar failed to get excited about but which we thought was quite useful!
The B'Seen Night Light is a small plastic mini torch which attaches to your dogs collar by means of a metal keyring loop. At the top of the torch is a small switch which turns the light on and off. The idea of this is that your dog is more easily seen in the dark. Our night light also has a luminous yellow reflective coating across the front of the light so even if the light isn't switched on it is still easy to pick your dog up with a torch or by car headlights. There is also a clip on the back so the light can be attached to your own clothing or a bag. The light from the night light is a yellow glow.
We bought the night light from Petplanet the online pet store and it cost £3.91 you can probably also buy it from pet shops too.
I think this is a really handy little gadget for dogs. It is small enough that its not too obtrusive on the dogs collar and Oscar couldn't manage to get hold of it to chew it. When it first went on his collar he ran around daft trying to work out where the light was coming from which of course then flashed around the room as he shook but then he seemed to settle and it didn't bother him. The light is as soft yellow glow but it is still bright enough to be seen from a distance. The added luminous reflective coating makes it easier to pick your dog up with a torch even if you haven't got the light switched on.
We find this light is handy to have on when Oscar is running around the garden in the dark as you can check where he is. It's also handy when walking in the dark especially in areas where there are no street lights or the lighting is poor. It's a light that can be used to keep an eye on where your dog is but also to make your dog more visible to other road users. You can also use the light on yourself as there is a little clip as well as the hoop so could be used for your own safety as well, handy if you walk or run in the evenings when its dark.
The battery is estimated to last for 60 hours use and ours is currently still going strong. The only downside is that the on/off switch is really small and quite stiff so it's not very easy to turn it on and off. A push in button might be a bit easier but that's the only disadvantage I can see of this product.
Summary: A little light which attaches to your dog allowing it to be seen at night
