Bezo-Pet paste is another of the hairball/laxative remedies I always have in stock. I came across this one when my boys temporarily got bored of the other brands we'd been using and I was looking for a different one. I buy mine from www.vetuk.co.uk for £7.75 for a 70g tube so it's still inexpensive.
At this time of year when the weather is warming up and cats are losing large amounts of fur furball remedies are a cat essential to make sure your cats don't suffer. To be honest though these remedies are handy to have in all year round in case of furballs or mild constipation.
Bezo paste is actually quite alot lighter in colour than most of the others I've used, it really is a light brown rather than mid to dark brown. It also has a runnier consistency than most of the others and doesn't hold it's shape very well once you've squeezed some out. In fact if you are offering this to your cat on your finger you need to be pretty quick about it because it's oilier and less sticky it melts and starts to slide down your finger as soon as it touches your body heat! I counteract this by squeezing some onto my index finger then holding my next finger very close to it so if it runs before my lads can lick it it only runs onto my next finger.
This one seems to have a milder malt taste than others too. The reason I know this is not because I've tried it but because one of my boys likes really malty ones and he doesn't like this one. My other lad however adores this one and can't get enough of it! If I didn't limit how much he had I think he'd happily eat the whole tube full!
The dose is only given for adult cats, one teaspoon per day for lubrication if there is a furball in place or your cat is constipated and 1 teaspoon 2-3 times a week for preventative measures. It doesn't say in the leaflet you can't use it on kittens and I've not come across any that can't be given to kittens in smaller doses than adult cats so I'm not sure why they don't list a dose for kittens. The usual amount given to kittens with these products though is half the adult cat dose.
So does it work? Yes it works very well. I find because this is oilier it actually seems to work faster than some of the thicker versions, usually the following day will show results whereas some of the others take a few days.
My only minor gripes with the product are the rapid melting, you really need to have your cat prepped and ready to lick it off before you squeeze any out or cool your hands off first. The other tiny gripe is it doesn't seem to last as long as other brands in the same size tube, I suspect this is because of the previous problem and you tend to have to use a bit more to get your cat to have the recommended dose because some is lost with the melting.
One other thing I'd like to mention is if your cat is on medication, like my two, it's best to give these products a couple of hours after their last tablet for the day so it doesn't interfere with the absorption of necessary medication.
The two very small gripes do not lose this product a star though, even though only one of my lads likes this it's a great product, very effective and inexpensive to buy. It's readily available at www.vetuk.co.uk and gives your fussy felines a change from the other brands so they don't get bored. Highly recommended by me and one of my boys.
Summary: Excellent product
