INTRODUCTION

I have always grown up with fish, as I kid I would win them at the fair ground and they would only last a few days before they died. This is where my interest in fish first started, although the fairground fish were non starters the pet shop bought ones lasted longer.

I first found this Biorb fish tank about three years ago and it was very expensive back then, but as the years have gone by it has rapidly dropped in price. As my old fish tank was looking rather ropey my husband treated me and my fish to this fantastic but futuristic looking tank.

THE BIORB

My Biorb is a 30 version which holds up to 30 liters of water, this can also be bought in a 60 version but this is substantially much bigger so displaying it is much harder than the 30 version I have got, I do have to say the bigger one looks amazing if I had the space this is one I would have gone for.

The Biorb is made with a thick clear acrylic plastic that is molded in to a big ball shape, this ball is where your fish will live. It is finished off with a silver metallic lid and base that finish off this stylish fishy home perfectly and it will fit in with all décor.

This tank can be a great home for any type of fish ideally cold water fish as it has everything you need to get you started. If you want tropical fish in it then you will have the added expense of a tropical fish water heater, but this can also accommodate tropical fish.

This has a light built into the lid of this tank, which beams down into the tank and illuminates the fish and the bubbles from the filter, this is lovely to watch at night and I find it very relaxing.

As the tank can be seen through from every angle, you can always see what your fish are up to and you will not miss a thing, I have a few baby fish at the moment and these are magnified from certain angles so they appear bigger than they really are.

WHATS INCLUDED

The Biorb is the 30 liter tank that will be home to your fish this is the main feature and will give you a great 360 degree look at your fish.

An instruction guide is included this gives you step by step instructions on how to set up your tank and how to care for you fish. It goes in to depth on how to clean and maintain your tank to ensure you fish live a long and happy life.

This manual is perfect for any fist time fish keepers it would also be good to introduce children into caring for the fish.

A filter system is included to help keep your tank clean and filtered, this filter needs to be replaced every couple of months.

The filter itself is a small tube that is placed into the bottom of the Biorb structure, this is very simple to do and full instructions are given in the guide manual.

An air pump is also included to give your fish some oxygen, this structure of this tube is stuck in place inside the fish tank, all you need to do is connect the power to the tube and the bubbles will flow. The connection for this is also very self explanatory but the manual also states on how to connect it up.

The last thing that is needed to finish building your tank is the LED light, this is connected to a transformer and plugged into the mains. Your light can then be turned on and off whenever you want to.

You will also get pebbles and water preparation chemicals to treat your tank prior to you adding your fish, it is recommended that you set up the tank and leave it to settle for a week before adding your fish.

CAPACITY

My tank holds 30 liters of water and I have 5 medium size gold fish in it, they seem to have plenty of space to swim around freely, so I think I could possibly have a few more at some stage.

If you have tropical fish I am sure you will get up to 20 smaller sized fish in this tank.

The tank is rather bulky ate forty centimeters wide and forth three centimeters in height so you will need to be sure you have enough room to display this and get the full benefits of the tank.

SET UP

This took me longer to fill the tank with water then it actually did to build and construct the tank. As I said I have kept fish for years so I didn't really read the instructions. If you are new to owning fish I would recommend you read the manual first before trying to build the tank.

Once you have built the tank and added the water, you have to add the chemicals and leave the whole thing running for at least a week. If you are keeping cold water fish you can put the fish in after a few hours but if you are going for tropical fish then you have to leave it to get the correct temperature as the tropical fish will die it they are to hot or too cold.

You can put in extras like stones, plants and ornaments these need to be washed and sterilized before going into the tank but they can be added at any time.

When this is full it can be very heavy with an excess of 30 kilograms, so I would recommend you place it when you are displaying it before you start to fill it with water. This may take you longer to fill but it will be much easier on your back.

This tank is designed so you never have to clean it, well I am sure if I keep on replacing the filters it will be fine, if your tanks water evaporates you can just top this up with water from a tap.

PRICE

I found this Biorb fish aquarium in Argos for the bargain price of 89.00, this can be bought in store or online at www.argos.com.

Argos do not sell the 60 liter version but they can be purchased elsewhere if needed. These also come in a variety of colours but Argos only do the silver ones.

I personally wanted the silver one to fit in with my furnishings, so Argos worked well for me and it was slightly cheaper than anywhere else I could find them.

MY OPINION

I have found this to be very low maintenance, it is unlike any other tank I have previously owned. I have not had to clean it out since I have started to use it and I only need to top it up every week, this is usually a pint of water each week.

The only down side is the fact that the bubbles make so much noise, it is alright if you have the television on but if you are sitting quietly it can be very annoying.

The tank looks great on the box but it is much better when it is all working, it is so relaxing to watch especially if you have some pretty fish in it.

If you are considering buying some fish and you need a tank, then I would recommend this not only is it very stylish and stunning to look at but it is the cream of the crop for the little fish that will be living in it.

Summary: This is a must for any fishy lover.....

Thought it was small when I saw picture above, but it really is a good size. Well deserved Crown.
