Advantages: cheap, firm packaging

Disadvantages: utterly ineffective

I confess I bought the on the spot treatments by Bob Martin to help my cat. Little did I know they'd send him spiralling into very ill health. Previously I had used Frontline, but as my local vet is quite far I toddled into my local pet shop and bought their on the spot product instead thinking foolishly 'Ahhh I have saved money and bought a good product without walking miles'. I bought a three pack, which at just over 5£ is about a quarter the price of Frontline. Once a month I would apply the product to my beloved cat. He seemed OK and quite content, there was the occasional flea body on the cat brush, but it was dead, so I assumed the flea had been killed off by the power of Bob Martin. My cat associates with other cats when he goes outside so I reckoned that they were getting on him from those as I had defleaed the house a couple of times before.
Then the cat's skin went funny. Huge flakes of skin came off like giant dandruff. Then he went scabby. Agh!!! The night of my birthday (with husband waiting at home fully suited for us to go out to dinner!) I brought him down to the vet who diagnosed him as having a really nasty form of ezcema that is usually brought on by having Fleas.
Apparently at its height when you put the cat your hand gets covered in what looks like brown sugar, but is actually scabs.
But, I cried, I was a good cat owner, I've been using been using Bob Martin flea drops. Ahhh, said Mr. Vet, eyeing up my scabby cat, I think you would have been better throwing the box at the fleas.
Bugger.
20£ on steroid injections for the cat and a whole new load of Frontline to kill the buggers dead. The cat is now on the occasional dose of evening primrose oil and his skin condition has returned. He is now flea free. Our new cat has also been dosed with Frontline... just in case.
So don't buy this product it's not as good as the real thing and is really worth the jaunt down to your local vets to buy as much
as you can carry. Your cat will thank you.
