Poor little Milliepuss.... she's behaving rather strangely and I don't understand why? She's behaving very agitated and restless and her fur is twitching. Arrrrrggghhhhhh - little black monsters crawling around all over her fur - she's infected with fleas!!! What do I do? At 11.30pm I decide it's time to get rid of these gastly little monsters once and for all and I'm panicking so much I drive to Tesco in my pyjamas :-). Straight to the pet section I go and the first product that gets my attention is the Bob Martin Silent Flea Spray For Cats. According to the bottle it "kills fleas on cats with a quiet trigger action pump that should not cause your cat alarm or stress but leave it flea free." Suitable for cats and kittens over 12 weeks of age but should not be used on nursing queens or kittens under 12 weeks of age or 1.5kg... ok, Milliepuss fits the bill. Bob Martin Silent Flea Spray for cats will apparently kill fleas and should not cause pets alarm or stress, but leave them flea free and content, due to the silent pump action. Well the bottle resembles a kitchen cleaning product with a trigger handle but I'm willing to give it a go anyway. I get the product home and find poor little Milliepuss. She's still very agitated and I know she's going to hate me for having to put her through the trauma of spraying her with what resembles Flash Kitchen Spray with Bleach. Never mind - it has to be done. I spray as directed on the bottle (15 cm away from her) all over her body and whoosh, I've never seen a cat jump so high!! Should not cause pets alarm or stress? Well that was a joke! I sit and wait impatiently.... hour after hour the nasty little black monsters do not want to budge. Seems like this Bob Martin flea spray has ma
de the flea problem worse... she's taken to lying on the window sill 24/7 literally. It seems that the carpet is infected with the monsters too... So off I toddle to the 24 hour Tesco and purchase the Bob Martin Home Flea Spray Plus. It claims to be "A highly effective solution to flea infestation in the home. Kills fleas and ticks on contact". I spray this stuff on every carpet in my house. According to the bottle this product is for use as an insecticide only. It should not be applied directly to Milliepuss, nor human clothing or bedding - so there goes the solution for Milliepuss's favourite blanket. "Clinically proven" the bottle says and "Home Flea Spray Plus is designed for use on carpets, rugs, soft furnishings, pet bedding and does not stain." Well I noticed absolutely zero difference anywhere so neither of these products worked AT ALL. I resorted to taking poor Milliepuss to the vets who advised me that supermarket bought flea products are not very effective. He supplied me with Frontline Spot On Cat and a spray for my carpets. Within 24 hours Milliepuss was bright eyed and bushy tailed - thank god for that :-). So my advice to anyone with a flea infected pet or home is to take their beloved friend to their local veterinary surgeon who will supply more effective products. The Bob Martin ranged proved to be nothing but a waste of my hard earned cash in my case.... Long live cats :-)

- 16/02/04 Fleas are just a nightmare, but the products from vets always seem to work best! Great op. |

- 15/02/04 Totally agree with ya, either fleas are are turning bionic all of a sudden or Bob Martin can't tell the difference between a flea and the hole in his arse ;-)
