Advantages: Easily available

Disadvantages: Doesn't seem to work very well, especially if you use it regularly.

For years we used Bob Martin flea control products - flea collars for both cats plus household flea spray, as it was the only one in our supermarket. We found that the collars were less effective in the summer (when fleas are more of a problem) and didn't last for the full 4 months indicated. Plus we had to spray the house regularly and even that still didn't cure the problem.

I've finally made it to a real pet store and discovered a whole new world of flea products. We have frontline to treat the cats, backed up by a different brand of flea collars and spray. The key thing to look for seems to be "kills fleas" rather than "repels/ controls fleas". Bob Martin seems to get the fleas to jump off the cat but onto us, whereas other products actually kill the fleas, a much better idea.

Leave Bob Martin on the shelf and find something that works.
