WARNING - THIS PRODUCT IS SO DANGEROUS! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Last year we returned from holiday and picked our cat up from the cattery. All was well until a couple of weeks after when she was scratching so much she was covered in blood and scratches. Upon closer inspection I noticed the fleas - lots of them - euuuuw!
It was 11pm and with no vets open at this hour of the night we ventured out to our 24 local Tesco Extra. Their range of flea treatments were not extensive, all they had was a variety of Bob Martin products. We had already given her Frontline spot-on before going on holiday so in effect she should have been covered. We ended up settling on Bob Martin's multi-purpose Flea Spray that is suitable for both the home and your animal so we could kill two birds with one stone - or so we thought!
When we got home we doused our long-haired persian with the flea spray after reading the instructions and within minutes she was listless, shaking and foaming at the mouth which was really frightening. We tried to wash her mouth out but nothing worked, the foam kept on coming. We called an emergency vet and they said that this kind of thing happens and it is a kind of bittrex that they put in the product to stop your pets from licking the product. We sat up with her until 3am in the morning and the foaming still persisted and we ended up having to give her a bath to remove the remaining product and booking her in to the VETs first thing in the morning.
In the meantime we re-read the packaging and it states quite clearly on the front that you are able to use this product on both pets and at home but further reading on the back of the label states that you SHOULD NOT apply this to your pet.
To sum the story up our cat was very poorly for weeks after and had to under-go a variety of tests as animals are known to have died from this product. We managed to get the money back for this product from our local TESCO and they made an enquiry regarding the product to head office.
So the moral of this story is - do not buy quick fixes, do not use Bob Martin products as your pet's life is worth more than this.
Summary: A very stressful time for both the cat and owners - NOT WORTH THE 1 STAR I HAVE BEEN MADE TO GIVE IT
