I got this tent as an extra snuggle/hiding place for my guinea pig, the tent looks cute in his cage and he loved it, the outside is easy to clean and didn't need to be put up as it just pops up when taken out of its packaging, when i first got this product i was very pleased, as its not bad for the money, and my guinea pig loved it, although this only lasted a few days, even though my guinea pig didn't have the tent in his cage too long it became very smelly very quickly, which is to be expected, but i would have cared about this if it had of been easy to clean, soaking the tent in hot water didn't really lift the smell away and it would survive a trip in the washing machine, but what disappointed me the most was the fact that it didn't last a week until the bendable mental poles inside the tent which held it up popped out of the tents sides, meaning it was no longer suitable for my guinea pig as he could have hurt himself from it! i think it looks great and your pet will love it, but this should really only be used as a toy to get its full potential use out of this product, as it you use it anymore than just for play time i doubt that you will have it longer than a week!
I was feeling slightly flush recently and decided to go on a bit of a splurge in Pets at Home, amongst the various items I bought was this Boredom Breakers pop up tent. I have 3 guinea pigs, all boars (boys), 2 brothers that live together and a lone boar who is a single due to his hatred to other piggies. I decided that this tent would be best suited to my pair as it was big enough for them to snuggle up together in.
The tent is made of a navy wipe clean material, it comes folded up and all you have to do is let it pop up, thankfully no assembly is required! Included in this tent is a soft faux sheep skin padded liner that is easily attached via velcro to the base, this ensures that it stays in place and doesn't slide about. The liner's underside is made up of the same wipe clean material.
The tent is a roomy size, 38cm across and enables my 2 piggies to lie comfortably in it together without being cramped for space. This tent is easily big enough for a small rabbit such as a dwarf. A handy feature of the tent is the ties that are attached to each corner, this means that it can be tied to the cage and so can't be moved about and upturned by my pigs.
To clean it all I do is give it a wipe clean and allow to dry naturally, I haven't washed it and to be honest I can't remember if it can be machine washed or not. Hand washing I should think would be ok. The tent cost be around £5 and my pigs have enjoyed it immensely, it is nice and cool for them so a great buy for summer, it can be used inside or out, a great product!
I am not very much of a people person, I love animals and my pets are hugely important to me. I was given this pet tent by my other half when I was due to go away for a festival, as he said that the pets could camp out while their mama was away camping too - aww cute! It can be found online from various retailers including Amazon, who also have several similar alternatives tent items.
Product details: "Ideal shelter for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and Ferrets. This large pop
up tent is ideal for small pets who like a little hide away, it can be used outdoor or in.
Ideal shelter from wind, sun and showers. Measurements: 36 cm x 36 cm x 36 cm."
I have 2 rabbits and one guinea pig, all of which live within my house in their own special bedroom, and they each have their own cage where I put their food, water, and sleeping areas. This tent is a large size and is suited to most small pets including rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets.
The Boredom Breakers Pop Up Tent is made of a thin synthetic material. It has a dome shape with an opening at the front. The fabric is a nice deep shade of blue with purple trim. It has reinforced shaping at the seams so that it stays open and upright. You can fold it down flat again if you want to store it away.
The tent is a really cute idea for a pet toy, as it is colourful and fun looking and it's nice to see the pets enjoying it. I have used this with both of my rabbits and my guinea pig and they all seem to get an equal amount of enjoyment out of it. Shinobi, my guinea pig, likes to clamber inside and use it as a shelter. As it is fully covered over it gives a safe and secure place for your pets to hide away and relax. The door opening at the front is at a conveniently low level so it is easy for all small pets to get in and out of the tent.
The tent is quite lightweight and can be pushed around easily. My rabbit Locke likes to re-arrange his toys in a way that suits him, and if something is not where he wants it he will throw it around into the right place! The tent has not suffered any damage for this, and the thin fabric has proven to be quite durable. It would fray very quickly if the pets decided to chew on it but so far they have avoided having a nibble. I think that if the tent was used outside it might get blown around by the wind unless your pet was inside to weight it down.
My rabbit Sugar likes to run in and out of the tent, and I often fill it with pieces of scrunched up newspaper for him to dig around in, as this simulates some sort of burrowing activity that would be natural to the bunnies. There is not a huge deal of space inside the tent once a bunny has hopped in, but for smaller pets like guinea pigs there is enough room for you to put in some food or smaller toys if you like.
The Boredom Breakers Pop Up Tent is compatible with other toys in the Boredom Breakers range. At the edge of the front opening there are some little ties attached, which seem to serve no obvious purpose. However, if you also have a Boredom Breakers Rabbit Activity Tunnel all becomes clear! There are corresponding ties on the end of the tunnel for you to attach the two toys together, so your pet can run through the tunnel which will lead to the tent at the end. I have several rabbit sized play tunnels, but not from the Boredom Breakers range. It is possible to attach them to the tent by simply shoving the end of the tunnel into the tent door space, but it does not stay secure and they will become detached after a while of the pets playing in this way.
I think this is a great toy for small pets that both my rabbits and my guinea pig love to play with. I would recommend it to other small pet owners, and would definitely consider buying other products in the range, especially the ones that are designed to inter-connect.
