Advantages: Cheap and nutrious for your cat
Disadvantages: You may need to supplement with wet food also
At present lm holding Purdy’s box of Brekkies in my hand – purely research you understand! She is purring loudly at my feet – either she thinks lm stealing her precious food or that lm going to feed her! We ere introduced to Brekkies by Purdy’s mum (well her owner – my friend Rachel) Poppy. Whilst crying to be fed, Rachel took out a box of Brekkies – and WOW the cries became even louder and harder! Both Poppy and Skye (Purdy’s sister) gobbled up their Brekkies before heading out side for more feline adventures with out as much as a thank you! I then said ld have to try these out on Purdy as prior to this she had only been on wet cat food. Brekkies is cheap – there’s no doubt about that – for 500 grams it costs around 79 pence and a box lasts approximately 1 to 2 weeks in our household. The Brekkies box is basic – perhaps a reason why buy costs are lower. A simple cardboard box with a tabby rubbing him or her against the Brekkies name which runs vertically along the left-hand side of the box. Differing flavours are recognisable by differing coloured boxes. There's an easy to use flap at the side of the box, which is collapsible for dispensing the food. Brekkies are widely available – all major supermarkets stock them. As do most corner shops – l would note though that they are liable to be more expensive in the latter. So what are Brekkies? According to the box (and l quote) “Brekkies Complete is a complete pet food for adult cats and can be fed on its own or with pouches or tinned food.” Well l would never give Purdy dried food alone- she always has a supply of wet food available to her too. There is always a fresh dish of water and for a special treat now and again some cat milk. What flavours do they come in? Rabbit, chicken & liver – green box Chick
en & Turkey – yellowish box Salmon, trout & pilchard – orange box Also beef & Lamb is available in a blue box but only in the Republic of Ireland. Brekkies provide your pussy with the following: Protein for muscle maintenance and repair Oils & fats for a healthy skin and coat Carbohydrates for energy Vitamins & minerals for all round health Real meat juices – for extra cat appeal Feeding Guide It is recommended that the following meals should be given to your cat dependent on size: * Small Cat (up to 3 kg) 65g per day * Medium Cat (up to 4 kg) 90g per day * Large Cat (up to 5 kg) 110g per day Also note if you do like l do give your cat wet food also then these amounts should be halved. Ingredients Cereals Vegetable Protein Extracts Fish Derivatives Meat and animal derivatives Minerals Oils and fats Yeast It all sounds too delicious doesn’t it!! Other Details Brekkies are made by Waltham and re a registered trademark of Pedigree Masterfoods. You can check out the web site at http://www.waltham.com. There is also a customer care line on 0800 738 800. Purdy’s Personal View Well l have never had any complaints – she always eats them all – her dish is always clear. This must be a good sign – as all cat owners know they can be fussy little buggers when they want to be! At present her favourite is Chicken & Turkey – but this is liable to change! Brekkies get the nutrients my cat needs into her system and it does so without putting a gapping hole into your bank balance – as far as lm concerned that’s good enough for me! Heather
