It came out easy and it wasn't hard to break it up and spread. You also get a fair bit more than the packaging appears to contain as it is quite well compressed. It was made of little brown, pa...more

I started using Carefresh after about half a year of using wood shavings with my two Guinea pigs. Shavings had proved to be too dusty for inside use for me and had caused some breathing problems with my Guinea pigs (one still suffers sometimes) so I was very eager to get them on something else so off to the Internet I went to do some research. After a couple of hours of looking though various beddings I found a brand called Carefresh which many people had very good experiances with so I thought I'd give it a go.  _Avaliability_ One thing I had to consider when I was choosing a bedding was how easy it would be to get it and Carefresh ticked this box: ...  Read the complete review

I own rather a large number of pet rats and 4 of my boys live in a Jenny rat cage. One of them recently got the sniffles (the dreaded bronchitis, which can turn into pneumonia and often results in death) so I swiftly took him to the vets and got a dose of baytril for him. Between us the vet and I couldn't determine what caused his breathing problems so I decided to change as much as I could just in case any particular aspect was a causal factor. Anyone with pet rats should know that they cannot be on sawdust or woodshavings because the dust they contain will give them breathing problems. As such I tend to use a number of dust free wood and paper based cat ...  Read the complete review

Carefresh Pet Bedding: As happy as a guinea pig in --- wood! (396 words)

I have two guinea pigs, Twinkle and Splodge . They're very spoilt, with a nice big run outside, a comfy warm home inside, shelters, toys, all the vegthey can eat and lots of comfy bedding . Discovering the right bedding for my guinea pigs took trial and error . Initially I used Hay, but they kept eating it all, so I eventually decided to use a different bedding and give them a fresh batch of hay to nibble each day, rather than have them just eating their bed . One that I tried was Carefresh Pet Bedding, a recycled pet bedding made up of 100% virgin wood pulp fibre - and no pine or cedar, which can be harmful to some small animals . It also cleaims to absorb ...  Read the complete review

Carefresh keeps odours at bay (638 words)

I keep my two guinea pigs in an indoor cage, recently I have stopped using wood shavings as their bedding material. Every time I cleaned the cage my eyes got sore and itchy, I also found out that shavings can contain pine and cedar which could be potentially harmful for guinea pigs, so I started looking at alternatives. I was buying some items online for my pets when I came across Carefresh, in the description it said that hypo-allergenic and also dust free, as well as claiming to eliminate odours. It came in two sizes so I bought the smallest one to try it out. *What is Carefresh?* Carefresh is bedding for small animals and reptiles made ...  Read the complete review

Carefresh Pet Bedding: Carefresh pet bedding (491 words)

Carefresh pet bedding Personally, I use a mixture of carefresh bedding and wood shavings to create a comfy, cosy and clean cage for my two little guinea pigs. My guinea pigs are in-door guinea pigs, just getting outside for fresh air and exercise, as such it is important for them and for me that they are kept clean and smelling as fresh as possible. --Odour and absorption-- Probably the main reason that I buy Carefresh bedding is that it does eliminate a lot of the rather nasty smells of urine and it retains any liquid reasonably well (much better than wood shavings alone) until I can scoop that bit out and put in some fresh bedding. ...  Read the complete review
